How dark should I tint my Z?

How dark should I tint my 370? Typically I tint 20% but that's on a Maxima, Hummer, Trailblazer which have much bigger windows and smaller blind spots. I'd like to do 20% but I'm thinking 45% due to the hatchback, small windows and significant the blind spot. Suggestions?

You should search!

anthonyy 09-13-2012 06:46 PM

I hear you. I did 20% all around.
When reversing at night, with no surrounding lights, I need to roll my windows down.
But other than that... a-okay

DarkJak 09-13-2012 06:53 PM

Mine is 20 I believe. Limit here is 35, but I haven't had any issues with it and like anthonyy, I only run into problems reversing at night, but windows down and I'm fine.

USMCASA 09-13-2012 06:59 PM

^same. 20% on mine and 35 is the legal limit. i changed my reverse bulbs to super bright leds and no issues now

victort 09-13-2012 08:05 PM

45% would look great! IMO, too dark makes your car look ghetto

nmjaxx9 09-13-2012 10:34 PM

I got mine tinted 35% but also have the windshield tinted and 20s in the back so it makes it a lil darker, keep check my album for pics. :tiphat::tup:

I must live in the ghetto suburbs then because I'm at 5% back and 15% sides:tiphat:

issey.miyake 09-13-2012 11:44 PM

I've got 20 and it's perfect

Use your mirrors to eliminate blind spots as much as possible - the only hard thing is reversing out of my own driveway at night where I do an ace Ventura and stick my head out of the window lol

Ps the rear quarter window might as well not exist because I don't think I've see through it once hahah

omm370z 09-13-2012 11:52 PM

I did 50 over 35 for the side and rear but light in front

Picture of my my old 350z

For some people was too much specially at night but for me was just normal habit

luigi90210 09-14-2012 12:19 AM

i did mine, 20% in the front and 5% on the rear windows and i havent had problems with it, plus it looks sexy

everyone is different though, you could always ask the tinter for his opinion as well

ZFLASH 09-14-2012 07:41 AM

I did 20% all around but with grey interior..makesit look like it isnt dark enough...

tibal 09-14-2012 07:57 AM

I did mine 30% llumar and it is perfect. With our windows it looks darker anyways, and this gives the look, the privacy, and doesn't get you in trouble.

UNKNOWN_370 09-14-2012 08:04 AM

i run 20% on my windows, 5% on my hatch and little windows... The only time i have problems @ night is when there's no light in the area. But i can see traffic fine @ night but distance is reduced by 25%. For longer distance rear traffic i double check with side mirrors. I think you'll be fine with 20%

Streetlife 09-14-2012 08:50 AM

35% for me is perfect, plus it's the legal limit percentage here in Texas. Make sure you get Ceramikool tint or Llumar both are worth it.:happydance:

I appreciate it, was told it was 35% by my installer, he installed my clearbra too, still 35% is perfect for me. I couldn't have asked for a better job on both tint and clearbra (hours of researching the best installer in your city helps). No vision issues at all, and people still have to look extra hard to see me inside. Also, i've never been a fan of extremely dark tint.:tiphat:

My car came with 35% 3m high end tint all around. I had it redone. 35% is the dealer protocol for my dealer. Every car on the lot has tint.

I ordered my 2012 370Z, as you can see in my avatar that sticker in the windshield is to be removed by the owner only, the PDI hadn't even been done, it was done when all of my mods were complete, told them not to touch her didn't want dealer installed swirls. After taking delivery of her, I did notice a few cars on the lot with tint. After seeing mine once i brought her back to have baker tuning install my mods , the service department manager asked me who did my tint because their installer wasn't nearly that good, and that he was looking for someone who was good at doing a clearbra (clearbra was for his own personal car though).

FlawlessZ 09-14-2012 11:50 AM

Double LIMO...if you have a rear cam ;)

NickTurnon 09-14-2012 11:52 AM

5% -Limo... The only tint acceptable on a Z!

jlbrenne 09-14-2012 11:52 AM

20% windows, 50% winshield- thats what I have and I love it...Looks really sharp if you have black interior

Vertigo 09-14-2012 12:51 PM

I did 15% and and very happy with it.
It's honestly not that dark at all on a sunny day.

YangCheolIn 09-14-2012 12:55 PM

i did 35 and it looks great on the gunmetal.

BlkNismo 09-14-2012 01:04 PM

What is the law for the state you live in? Every state is different.

I agree...and I agree that anything darker starts to look ghetto.

nmjaxx9 09-15-2012 10:34 AM

Yeah you do have to check the law, every state is different, funny thing is half the unmarked police cruisers around town have illegal tint on their car, like 5% all around, guess they are ghetto as well. :rofl2:
