oops I put my car in 'N' while driving...
So yeah I thought I was in M mode? I immediately slammed it back in 'D'. What have I possibly broken, damaged or destroyed?
|
Nothing
I Dont have the funky ability to go from manual to auto or visa versa, but, if you were in auto and slammed it into "D", I assume thats drive. And I guess you were in a lower gear..........uhhhhh there should be nothing wrong with your car. Since you dont have to actually shift your gears mechanically, you have an electrically operated torque converter to shift for you. You should have done no damage.

No big deal man. Mine is still running perfect. |
Oh oh - the car is now worthless. I'll take it off your hands for $1,000. :p
Don't sweat it - going into N will rev the engine (assuming your foot was on the gas pedal at the time), and the ECU will prevent any damage when you slammed it back into D. I wouldn't make a habit of doing this though... ;) |
Yep, should be fine.

I do that in my accord all the time. Should be no problem

my friend used to redline his civic in "N" and then chucked it into "D". It was good for a laugh...then he passed it down to his brother, dont think he ever had transmission problems even after doing that on a regular basis. Oh and btw, I believe this is described as an "N" bomb...as in neutral bomb.
|
You serious?
It will ok, neutrals there for a Reason :) |
It would be a completely different story if you slammed it into reverse :bowrofl:
