Hey, since you're out of state might want to check into this stuff:

Do Out of State Speeding Tickets Follow You To Your State?

My friend got pulled over with me in Ohio when we were driving across the country, both of us were NJ residents at the time. He had to pay a fine but didn't get points.

Hmmmmm... Kinda weird scenario, I moved FROM CA to TX, and my one ticket was found by the insurance company... So... Yeahhhh... I'm hoping for the best, but preparing for the worst...

I just got my second ticket since having my Z (a bit over 2 years I have had it).

This guy was normally driving at 75-ish and I was fine with that. But now and then (especially when going up a hill) he would slow way down to 60 (in the fast lane).

He would slow down to the point of going slower than the traffic to the right of him. Even his normal speed was barely faster than traffic to the right and they were packed pretty good so no opportunity to pass.

Fast forward to 3 minutes later. Finally an opportunity to pass arives (if he just drove consistently speed wise i would not have passed). Of course at this point he is going at a good speed (75) but i did not want to be behind him any more.

It was a somewhat small section to pass so I down shifted to fourth and passed got by quickly to insure i would not be cutting him or anyone else off. I probably got up to about 95 but promptly slowed down.

Anyway just as I am slowing down i see lights from a motorcycle cop who wasnt THAT far behind me and i knew i was screwed =(. My bad for going that fast but its seriously annoying i got doubly screwed by the guy who was going slow. People who ever drive slower than the rest of traffic in the fast lane drives me nuts.

So I got a ticket for going 80 so I guess I can't bitch too much. The guy did not even radar/laser me. He gave me **** saying the guy was going 75.. Argh...

Anyway tickets are expensive in California. This one is gonna $370 =(

I don't believe you can get a ticket by pacing, or by the guy "ball parking" your speed in CA... you should be able to fight it easily

You can here in AZ. It's happened to me before. I tried to fight it, but I didn't have the knowledge to prove him wrong.

Pretty sure that has nothing to do with getting the ticket. It just chaps my *** because under normal circumstances i would not have passed the guy and would not have gotten a ticket. I got double screwed by the guy.

How hard is it to keep a consistent 72-75 mph? Sheesh... Going 75 and then 15 seconds later he is doing 63.

I'm in the same boat as you, I wouldn't have normally been gunning it at 57 for shitz n giggles... No one was letting me in before I was about to hit a damn illegally parked FedsEx truck, and I saw an opening at the last minute

Fudge! I got my first speeding ticket of my life today. (and I'm 31)

65 in a 60 (I was going a little over 70, but he knocked it down, I guess because I was nice and didn't try and ******** him.

I was on the way to a client meeting that was friggin 60 miles away, and he was posted up beside his cycle on the freeway using radar. He saw me, pointed at me, and pointed at the shoulder. I abided before he was even on his bike.

Like I said, I was doing closer to 73. He was doing me a favor. It's $93 and won't affect my insurance. But there goes my perfect record, lol.

For $93 it's not worth my time to take work off, travel all the way there and dispute it.

15 over, hire a lawyer and let him get it reduced to 9 over. then there are no insurance points. see if you can request a prayer for judgement, if you haven't used it in the past 3 years. hiring a lawyer will save you in the long run. i should know i've had 7 tickets in less than 3 years but my Z is yellow...

Looks like I'm moving to NC, in CA a ticket is a point, regardless of mph over or under the speed limit.
I think Texas has something similar to what you're talking about. But I am 100% sure CA doesn't operate like that, we have a no frills ticketing system any moving violation counts as a point if you lose in court

We can plead deferred adjudication up to 20mph over the speed limit. This means... plead no contest, don't speed for 3 months and it will never go on your record. You get stopped a second time within the 3 months and both hits go on your record. It's a game.
Option two... Plead no contest. Take a drivers-ed class. Probation is 12 months with the same deal as deferred. The most you save in doing drivers ed is $30.
So i choose defrred and save myself 9 months of bullshyt. Don't believe the hype. Radars work!!!!
