They target nicer cars here as well, a Z is a nice car here, especially if its a younger driver ticket right away! :icon17:

 I may have to agree with the youner driver statement....by rights I should have been pulled over at least twice....and twice it didnt happen...I am an older female driver....Ithink they totally blow off even thinking I am going to drive contrary to the laws....they are somewhat WRONG, but hey!

:rofl2: Yup, Im betting if it was a older man/woman driving my Z I say 4 out of the 5 tickets I got I would have got away with.:driving:

A lot depends on what the cops job is , if they are a traffic, speed trap, motorcycle meter maid, state cop, county sherriff , then most likely they will ticket everyone they stop.

Usually the regular patrol cops may give you a break, its these dedicated traffic cops that simply don't care and write everyone up.

Perhaps the real reason was you drove really too fast to make the cop to believe what he saw was the reality.:icon17: That also tells us you are not as old as you might thought you are.;)

How's Edmonton? I actually was born in Calgary!

You've been all over haven't you. Sorry to hear about your issue. Lot's of good ideas from the guys on how to get it taken cared of. Good luck man. You coming next month to Cerritos?

SoCalBoy 11-13-2012 05:25 AM

I recently received my second ticket within a year of owning my Z.....what can I say, I drive my Z as for what it was built for. First ticket was a month after purchasing my Z going 80 in a 65 area. Funny story, so I missed my exit and got off at the next exit to do a U. When CHP gave me the ticket he said "I was going so fast that when he went after me I was pulling away from him and the only reason he caught me was cause I had exit the freeway" :rofl2: Second ticket, driving 90 in a 65 (good thing he didn't catch me when I was doing 150:driving:)

I just put in my order for a Z today to replace my Crown Vic that just got totaled. I haven't had a ticket since 1981. Sounds like I might break that streak driving the Z.

:icon17: I think you will. :tiphat:

GrandZ45 11-13-2012 07:37 PM

One thing I found with the Crown Vic was that it seemed like a cop repeller. I don't know if they thought I was their grandmothers friend or perhaps a supervisor. On those few occasions that I accidently blundered into one of those small-town speed traps at highway speed, they just flashed their lights at me to catch my attention and warn me to slow down. I always gave a cheerful wave when that happened and eased up a bit. I think those days may be over.

What I mean is 60 in a 35... does it really matter what you're driving at that point?

MightyBobo 01-08-2013 12:42 PM

I think it's cute how people assume they are just going to get a ticket for driving a Z.

No, you'll get a ticket for breaking the law.

i had a used cop car, chevy caprice, with the push bumpers on the front and everything. Looked like an unmarked car, it was great, people always let me go first at stop signs, people slowed down for me!

My mechanic got pulled over in my old Z car for not having a front plate. Last ticket I paid was 1986. Any other tickets have gone to court where I won.

kidkotic2001 01-08-2013 03:49 PM

I got a ticket a while back going 77 on a 55. It is a road on the mountain and I was going downhill. I was not even giving her gas just gravity being gravity I was not paying attention and Bam saw the cop but it was to late. I tried to tell the cop that I was not accelerating and it was just the downhill speed but he did not care. anyways my ticket was $228 and some change. Very expensive ticket and my insurance went up 50 bucks.

I would never put a front plate on my Z. I will just continue to pay my 80 dollar fee.

sheps58 01-08-2013 03:50 PM

Tickets follow you from state to state

It'ss not worth speeding. Moving violations are reported to your home state.

i never paid any fees and i too was against front plate.

but then you get older and some of us gets wiser... dealing with little things like this become silly and you just concentrate on real things that matter in life.

marks370z 01-08-2013 04:29 PM

I've received 3 tickets in my Z, one was for speeding, one for tailgating a buddy of mine and the third was for having my driver side tires hit the double yellow on Mulholland(CHP:thumbsdown:).

I got a point from one of the speeding tickets and one for the tailgating. Going to court to fight the "unsafe speed"(veh code:22350)ticket on Feb 22.

nmjaxx9 01-08-2013 06:10 PM

the Z is def prone to tickets no doubt about it. Most of the times I got tickets I wasnt even driving reckless. Just happens certain situations, @ certain times. and the popo is around every building so you gotta be careful!! :driving:

RN SHARK 01-08-2013 06:53 PM

I got a ticket in San Diego for doing 83 on the freeway (65 limit) and just after the officer wrote my ticket he figured out that I was a nurse (cuz of my plate, and the fact I asked if he usually gives out tickets to nurses). He said he never gives nurses tickets and to do the trial by declaration. He said that he will dismiss it. The officer has to argue their side of a trial by declaration, otherwise the ticket is dropped. Well, I paid it, did the trial by declaration, and lo and behold, I got a refund check back in the mail for my payment.
So, I'd say fight it and do the trial by declaration. I'd also say, if you can't afford even one ticket without having to sell parts of your car...you should probably get a cheaper car. (and the Z isn't even an expensive car) or just take the bus.

I love ticket/speeding stories. It hits close to home for me :rofl2:

shadowfax 01-09-2013 03:50 PM

The ticket experience that made me stop driving like a dumbass:

Taking the Bake exit on the 405 South, there is a nice long swerving offramp. I loved to do a little spirited driving, usually maintaining freeway speed for the duration of the offramp, which is 4 lanes wide.

This particular time an audi S4 was taking it around the same time as me, and I, was doing my normal thing and ended up passing him about 700 feet before we came to a stop and took his lane, as it was the only lane without a car already waiting for the light.

Apparently he didn't like that, because after the light turned green, he ended up cutting me off then flooring it. I thought to myself what a douche, let him go. But something triggered and I decided to chase him, and I ended up catching him and I guess "raced" with me leaving him a few car lengths behind at 130mph. (STUPID!)

I look in my rear view to laugh at him, and I see those red and blues... immediately my heart sunk. "This is it, I'm going to lose my 350z, my license, I'm going to jail" I'm shaking as I pull over, turn off my lights for some reason (it's night time) and then turn them back on, press my hazards. And I wait for the officer.

As he approaches, he looks mad "YOU GOTTA BE KIDDING ME!" I immediately start to apologize before he cuts me off. "HOLD ON."

=He walks away and says something like "whiskey tango foxtrot niner" into his radio.
=He approaches my car again
Cop: "I JUST HAD TO CALL OFF A CHASE BECAUSE I COULDN'T CATCH YOU!"
=I'm pretty much shaking, stuttering, like an 8 year old kid who's in trouble.
Me: "I'm sorry I'm such an idiot. I didn't see you- I don't know if you saw but I got cut off and I lost my cool"
Cop: "Yeah I saw, what is this, a new one, it's fast.?"
Me: "it's a 2008, I just bought it used a few months ago."
Cop: "Well, you seem like a good person. Slow down."

He got back into his squad car and drove off.

I couldn't process it, sat there staring blankly for a few minutes.

TLDR: lost cool and drove 130mph on a surface street, cop gave me a break, scared me enough to not speed again.

FlawlessZ 01-09-2013 05:42 PM

Nice!

So you passed an S4 in a 350z? Boosted? lol JK

Audi's don't know how to drive any way.

SPOHN 01-09-2013 06:00 PM

I got pulled over the first week I had my car cause the cop wanted to know what type of car it was. Thought that was awesome.

onzedge 01-09-2013 06:03 PM

It must suck to get pulled over. :icon17:
