Smile Possibly Getting A 370Z

Hi all
I am 26 years old and currently drive a 2012 C63 AMG Coupe, I have only had this 3 months from new and got to the stage I am fed up with it already as I have had so many problems both with customer service and the car.

Previous to this I had a S2000 GT Turbo (some of you may have seen in numours Jap magazines) which I sold for the C63.

For the people who are interested in my cars the below are some pictures

Project S2000

Project C63

I have now got to the stage I want to sell the C63 and possibly get a 370Z but as I am new to the scene just have some questions.

> What are the service intervals and rough prices?
> Any common faults / problems to look out for?
> Any other useful info
> How easy it is to change the head unit?

Anyway Back to the car
My friend has got a 370Z GT up for sale which he let me use over the weekend and I love it, he hasnt done much to it apart from Remapp and Tein Suspension SuperStreet with EDFC Controler

The car is a dark yellow 59 plate with only 13000 Miles and in mint condition bar about 3 stone chips, hes the only owner, he said I can have it for £16,500its got the sat nav, Bose system etc, he is also going to service and MOT it before I have it is that a good price?

I have attached some pictures of her for you to look at (excuse the poor quality its the only ones I could find)

Thanks for reading

Thanks for stating the obvious...

if you must know, I am totally fed up with the car as I stated above, and TBH wish that I never bought the car, from the amount I am selling my C63 for and buying the 370Z Its well under my £25,000 which I wanted leaving me enough money to modifiy it.

with the excess money I am actually putting towards another property.

if anyone has anything constructive to say and help me with my questions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Bit snippy. No coffee yet?

What you ask for is posted in FAQs and easily consumable: poke around here more (such as the SMG: service and maintenance guide) for more details.

Overall the Z is pretty low on the maintenance scale. My only beef with Nissan is there ridiculously short OCI: which is time/mileage based. Sched 1 is more aggressive at 3months/3.75K, Sched 2 6/7500. Most do not run the Nissan 'recommended' Ester oil, and go with their synthetic of choice on this board. In the general public (i.e. those who just drive it), plenty of Z's run normal oil with no issue on the street.

After that you have 2-3 air filters every 15K, and fluids as well. Most of the running costs is going to be in tires

Some of the issues you will see a lot of traffic on is some cars consuming oil, the steering lock switch failing (easy to check what rev you have by looking at the part under the steering wheel), fuel gauge not lighting up full easily, and wafer thin paint.

The latter is a problem with most modern cars though zee germans do tend to have more layers and a better product with respect to paint.

You will see many folks who have installed double DIN Nav/HU's on base Z's. Factory Nav is not easy to retrofit but it does integrate very well should you look at other Z's that have it.

Going from an AMG 63 to the Z, obviously is going to be a night and day difference in many regards. Having been an S2K owner, you likely are not afraid of a few RPMs. The Z is quick but often not called 'fast'. The engine is smooth and not a torque monster like that AMG brute you have now. I'm not a big Merc fan overall but I have to give credit to that V8.

The Z's 3.7 is an odd engine in that its quite smooth to 5K but there is a bit of drive train harshness from 5K to redline which is something I was not expecting from my life driving silky Hondas and flat 4's and 6's.

If you are good with that, you may very well like the overall package of the Z. Only other thought is if you are a big modder, the Z is not the best platform for such. There is plenty out there but overall its not a high volume car and lacks the larger aftermarket that other cars enjoy.

HTH,
