Why are reviewers so hard on the z?

That is wierd. I have never heard of this, nor know of anyone with a Z that runs substantially cooler or hotter than the rest of us.

Everybody reports something different.

It's even covered earlier in this thread

When my Z says it's running a temperature, I break out the anal thermometer just to be sure.

I've driven quite a few sports cars and found horrendously annoying things about them. I know many others that complain about the same things. But they aren't really stressed in the reviews. If the Z has a 4inch long piece of plastic on the lowest part of the console that you can't see and looks cheap? That piece of plastic will get 2 paragraphs in a review of negativity. The whole FR-S interior is pretty chintzy, yet no one cares to stress it in summary length monologues.
When I see shyt like that, I have to call corporate politics. Remember, the Nissan corp is probably the only japanese car company that doesn't have a "Direct-Alliance" with an american automaker. They almost had one with dodge for the titan. But the auto-bailouts killed it. So now they have the Daimler contract instead. hmmmmm???? USA, angry for not sharing Nissan secrets with american companies? I have yet to see an american car with any type of DRM/SRM or serious dual clutch. Maybe they need help from Nissan and Nissan isn't helping? Maybe Nissan doesn't want American Corporations digging deep in there pockets and destabiling there Euro-Asian way of doing business???
And maybe the corporations are mad at that? Maybe they are using the car mag reviewers they have in there pockets to write trash articles on the Z??? Bad halo car press affects all models to some degree. Hitting the halo is the kick in the balls...

Mitsu, toyota, honda and mazda are all linked to american automakers. Subaru shares a lot of technology. Nissan isn't big on sharing with american companies and are always secretive in there business dealings toward the american market. I call "corporate american jelly".
BEFORE PRESUMING FANBOYISM...
I'm not saying there isn't any realism to most of the Z's issues. But other cars never get this much bad press when there are cars with more issues. BMW, Audi, Mitsubishi and hyundai have seen more reliability issues in there sports cars. Where's the laundry list on there complaints??? Just keeping it real.

besides the 100,000 dollar gtr what is nissans secret?Theres really nothing special about using the same vq in most their cars, and making little sentras and versas will always be there as a choice but most people know Honda and Toyota for better reliability and resale.

Too True. The Z isn't the best car of all time.

That would be a morgan.

Word up. I traded in a 2008 335i convertible for a brand spanking new Z. That Bimmer was a real Bummer as Barry Weiss might say... It was in the shop four times in five months. Anybody know how much a brake job on a BMW cost? $1,500 per axle! Oil change: $150! Crappy run flat tires and endless bent rims: $1,000 per wheel.

My Z gets way more compliments than all of the cars that I have ever driven combined. The oil temps hover between 180 and 230 degrees-- big deal. My car is my daily driver, so I don't worry about an oil cooler. Plus, the brakes work great, in fact, the Z scores high versus similar sportscars on braking quickness tests.

There are some trade-offs: cramped cabin, hard to get in and out of the car, loud engine at higher rpms, road noise, crappy stereo, and no back seat. I can deal with these shortcomings, as I can pick up a used sedan anytime for cheap as a second car.

Hondas and Toyotas are synonymous with BORING. I had a 1995 Camry. Great car. Ran like a Swiss clock, but boring as can be. That car never put a smile on my face. How many cars are as fun to pull the wheel hard and floor it as the Z. It's a sexy and reliable drift king!

BMW, Audi, Mercedes, Jaguar, Landrover, etc., etc. will kill you when they break down. My BMW had something like seven onboard computers and four catalytic converters, plus an idiotic cooling system. Fancy-scmantzy, but more or less overpriced/overvalued garbage. Why the hell do you think that most of these cars are leased or traded in or sold before the warranty runs out. Im perfectly happy with my 370Z built in Japan with GTR pride!
