Next Mod: Performance...need help
Hey guys- I'm getting ready to spend some money on my next performance mod.
Keep in mind that due to my warranty I cannot get a tune!!!!. Mod wise only think I have done is GTHAUS full CB exhaust. I hit 290 on dyno and looking to get more power for next time!!!! What would you guys do for my next mod to get what Im looking for. Remember, I cannot get a tune so I know that eliminates a few things. Thanks again!!!!

most dealerships would never notice if you got your car tuned unless your engine completely blows up if it's tuned correctly, that shouldn't happen unless you just flat out abuse your car in which case they would void your warranty anyway. custom dyno tuning is one of the best things you can do for your car, though it is wise to wait till you have all the mods you want to do first. cold air intake, high flow cats and exhaust along with a tune will get you the best results.

i got a new trans under warranty with a tune and tp's (2 things dealers flip out about). don't be afraid to throw a tune on. the great thing about it, is u can remove it before u take it in for service

yea my dealership in anderson said they wouldn't have voided any kind of warranty repair unless it was specifically related to the pistons for tuning. anything else would have been covered. if it's tuned right, there's nothing to fear as long as you are on good terms with your dealership.

I'm honestly thinking HFC's would go quite good with my GTHAUS setup. However, I dont want it much louder
I think that would give me the best bang for my buck right now. Then, intake...then the tune!!!

Some dealerships will void your warranty over something as silly as intakes, but at least with intakes, I can take them out of the car in 30 minutes and not have to spend another couple hundy for a re-tune. |

Consider talking to your dealership. I'm out of warranty so I have no worries about much anything.
A friend of mine owns a G37 and talked to three dealers, who all told him different things, that a tune voids warranty, that even an intake voids warranty, that if you touch the the car with the back of your hand directly below the driver's side door handle while the window is three-quarters closed with the stereo playing that you'll void your warranty...

yea i run my truck on the "stock" map 99% of the time and switch over to the "performance" map when i want the extra power. i asked the dealership about that and they said that it was unlikely any tech's would notice the uprev software unless they knew specifically to look for it as long as it came in with the stock map selected.

I'd still rather avoid that for the first 36mo/36k mi or whatever. When warranty is gone, it's time to play, but that's just how I'm doing my mods. Do whatever you all want. I'd rather not get bent over a barrel over a light power mod.

I'd think you'd want a CAI next, especially with a tune planned down the road.

People often forget LESS is MORE. Less Weight that is.
Switching seats out saves weight, there is a whole list of weight savings you can do. None of which will need you to do a tune if you are opposed to doing that. |
