Possible new owner, had some questions.
I wanted some input on the 370z platform in order to make my decision a little easier. I recently sold my stage III b5 S4 and am looking for something comparable on power but with a "sportier" look, that's where the 370 comes in. I test drove one this past weekend and I surprisingly enjoyed it more than I thought I would. Everything about the car is great but it could use a little more power for my liking.
I did some research and seen that GTM has developed a TT kit. I am looking to achieve about 450whp on pump gas, my question is will the engine take it? I did some research and from what the tuners say it will take it very well however I want someone's input with experience on hand. I know it is not an apple to apple comparison but many of you probably had 350z's prior and now that it's been around 6-7 years many have tested it's limits. So the question is... can the stock engine take the boost (6-7 psi I guess) without any problems or do the internals need to be beefed up? Again I am not looking for any crazy HP numbers just something comparable to my old car. Thanks in advance, Alex |

You may want to look up soaka1. He's currently boosting his car with a GTM TT kit, and the only one I know who has taken that route.

Check the forced induction section of the forum, they will have more answers. Also, check with the G37 owners that have gone TT, they have had more time with the engine than we have.
As far as I know you can safely run 6-8 psi on the stock internals, you'll just need to upgrade the fuel system and electronics along with all of the standard turbo parts. I believe GTM will have a full kit that includes every piece you will need, but don't quote me on that. |

I was thinking that MAYBE the fuel pump wasn't included, but I assumed injectors would be, along with a reflash or piggy-back system. Of course if you want to run different boost a lot, a full management system would be a good investment...but I wouldn't do that until I built the bottom end |

that's nuts. I never went over about 14psi on my SR20 S13 (ran 7 daily). That was enough to keep your back stuck to the seat. I had a friend with a Scooby running about 18 psi at the time and we would run neck and neck from a roll. He'd stomp my from a dead stop though, damn AWD, lol.

Yeah, it was unbelievable... the subaru ran so fast that it ate gallons and gallons of fuel. He told me he averaged about a hundred miles on a tank of 16 gallons. He used to take it racing on a strip, did under 13 seconds. It's ridiculous.

So yeah, ROspeed, if you want to get a turbo, you'll just have to wait. One of the members here volunteered his 370Z to GTM to build a turbo kit. If you can find him, he'll tell you more about it. As far as I know, he's at around 5 psi right now. No dyno runs yet though.

Yeah I think I am going to wait a little... Most likely until the 2010 models come out to see if they are going to add the oil cooler to combat the heating problem. Thanks for the info so far.
