Its quite a challenge when the seats are uneven on the sides. For daily driving, the seat is ok. I always have to adjust it some way when driving. Must be OCD or something.

:iagree:

I was upside down in the driver's seat once (good taste and decorum prohibit me from going into detail) and that bolster to which you refer was most definitely in the way.

What a fabulous road. This drive even has pull outs so maybe some one will pull over. The shoulders are wide if you screw up , which could give you a chance to recover.

Sometimes I feel like our seats are cheap...mainly because if you press your head back on the headrest, the two metal support beams for the headrest will poke you in the back lol.

If you never tried this, do it

Outside of that, I think the side bolsters are really great, I adjust the lumbar support when on longer drives, overall a good seat.

Its no G37 seat though, thats for sure.

That is a safety feature.

It is meant to prevent whiplash in the event of an accident.

You mean because of the length of it that it would hit me in the middle of the back?

Are you actually saying I'm supposed to feel it? I've done it in my wife's X5 and I don't feel a poke...I doubt her car is unsafe lol.

Maybe I need to push harder

edub370 08-31-2012 12:43 PM

or the x5's seat is just designed differently

I mean that the headrest is meant to move and that, yes, your mid-to-upper torso is meant to absorb impact when your head rocks back, in order to make your neck more stable and prevent whiplash.

Yes, I am actually saying that. Your X5 should have different safety features. It is an overpriced, overweight German grocery getter, not a sports car.

But whatever, you can feel that the seats are cheap. We're all entitled to opinions.

OP, just out of curiosity, are you a skinny guy or more on the heavy side....tall or short? I'm 5'8, 175lbs and I've never found the seats to be uncomfortable. I have the Touring Package, they do take some time to adjust to get just right.

speedfreek 08-31-2012 01:41 PM

You do realize this is a sports car and not a cadillac, right? The designers/engineers think of the worst and most uncomfortable seat designs to put in sports cars or it is by design to keep your azz planted in the seat when driving it like a sports car. You pick...

ERZperformance 08-31-2012 02:31 PM

I think any racing seat or seat that are build like racing seat are never comfortable to sit or even sleep in. But why would you need to "sleep in" the car anyway?

haha, don't get me wrong shadow, I love my Z and I'm not the OP, its just something I noticed in comparison to other cars.

And hey, I learnt something today about the safety aspect of it, so win win.
