15% would be a 50 hp bump. I'm guessing they'd be achieving it by adding DI. When Hyundai did that to the Genesis coupe, it produced an additional 45-ish hp. 380 hp Z sounds sexy to me.

Mentions 15% bump to the nismo z and a new rs version. The normal 370z isn't getting the bump from what I read in the auto blog article..

the only thing i take from that article is a wild guess.
the juke is already a turbo even if it is a 4cyl. the model z that one day replaces the 370 is a 75/25 chance of being a turbo.. it could make it totally different from the mustang, camaro etc. and could bump up the sales.... i'm betting no way it will be an 8 cyl. most new cars are going towards souped up 6's and imho nissan has just about wore out all it can get out of the VQ. |

When companies actually start doing things like this, it means they are about to kill the current chassis in a couple of years or less, and offer a new one. Similar to the new 5.0 Coyote engine here at the end of the S197 platform's life-cycle, and the LS7 powered C6 'vert. It's a last carrot to buy an aging platform. Personally, I am interested in the 390Z or whatever comes next. There are things I think need to change about the 370Z that this won't address.
Personally, I would like... slightly longer wheelbase better weight distribution (more neutral. My car is 56/44, and it shows. Not bad, but it's not my Z06.) Less "give" in the steering response. It's just not very crisp. The car wallows when you give quicker inputs. Front suspension feels sloppy and has a lot of rebound. Way better rebound control Last edited by ImportConvert; 08-28-2012 at 10:10 PM. |

Yeah, they only talked about the Juke, Leaf and GTR. I don't see 370z Nismo will get the 15% power bump anytime soon as the 13 Nismo is out already. I am only interested to see what's the next gen Z is going to look like.

Here is what they are saying:
Nissan plans to offer Nismo models more predomently through the line up so as to make it "like AMG". The first new Nismo models will be the Juke, and Leaf. The 15% bump in power is not related to the current power of the 370z or the Nismo Z, it is referring to the baseline power of that particular car. So for example if the standard juke makes 200 HP then the Nismo Juke would make approx 230 HP and so forth. The 15% is simply a general range of added power for getting the sportier version of the car AKA the Nismo version. The way they wrote the article with a random qoute not placed in context very well makes it a bit difficult to interprut but really it should be pretty clear if you re-read it. No real Z new's here. |
