I brought him a six pack of Michelob Ultra Lights everytime and I always bought my service advisor a batch of cookies. I haven't been to my Nissan dealership, I heard they suck and try to screw you so I doubt very seriously we will form any kind of relationship. The fact that they wanted $45k for my Z and wasn't willing to budge showed me how my service relationship would go. Didn't buy the car from them and doubt I'll let them do any major service.

Well, that depends. Not all the Nissan dealerships are bad. I have good relationship with both Infiniti dealership and Nissan dealership since I own both cars. Of course Nissan has their own rules, like no free loaner unless the car has to sit in their garage over night and so on. But since I am not being a d**k to them, they give me benefit time by time. I can get free loaner from them even for some small work. And the other day I lost my Xterra's key fob, the guy has a used one and he just gave it to me and reprogramed it. Yeah free. They also love my Z and they allow me to get into the garage to talk to the teches while working on my car. Afterwards the service manager always ask the guys to hand wash my car... So is Nissan dealership bad? It all depends. And it also depends on how you act like when you walk into the door.

The tech guy before anyone else. Dealership charges you
85 to 90 bucks an hour. You think the tech guy gets that much
an hour. No way

Is this a trick question ? Their tip is a good recomendation to others. If they want to grow their business they need to at least meet your needs.

Wow, you do have it good with your Nissan dealership, well I'll see how my first oil change goes with them LOL. But my Infiniti Tech has done all the mods to my Z so far. Definitely keeping that relationship going!

Yes keep bringing in the 6 pack and cokies(but don't get the guy too drunk to work on your car:icon17:)! And I hope the Nissan dealership will treat you right too.

My dealership fixed my botched aftermarket stereo install. Took them 3 visits to isolate the two bad grounds and they did it all under warranty. They also hand washed and vacuumed the car afterwards.

They basically own

dmhenderson 08-25-2012 11:50 AM

So yeah, they deserved free pizza.

Lunch is a great tip. You start putting money in there hands and shyt won't move unless they are greased. Lunch is a nice thank you that doesn't involve BS

Dude, always tip the waitress/waiter. If you had to go through the crap they go through, you'll realize that they do earn it. They get payed less than minimum wage without a decent tip. Think of it this way...they are basically your 'servant' for a half-hour or more. How would you feel after an hour of serving someone and getting payed $5 total for it. A 15%-20% tip really isn't that much. I know a lot of people that run restaurants. Always be nice to people the bring or cook your food...ALWAYS!

OP, there is no need to tip the advisor. It might even be insulting because some might consider themself as more white collar. I'd tip the tech actually working on the car if they did a really good job. Buy the service advisor guys donuts or something if they really helped you out.

Very well Put- thanks for sharing this comment

I give the owner of my dealer here a nice bottle of wine and tip the tech. I cannot say enough about my dealer. The owner started as mech many many years ago on Nissan's. Family place great people and atmosphere. Unlike any dealer I had in the US ever. No comparison.

A bottle of wine/liquor is a very common Christmas/new year gift from many of our customers. Our one advisor who has been there 25+ years never has to go to the state store for booze, he seriously gets enough at Christmas to last him the whole year.:happydance:
