Now hear this

According to my dealer, if there is no bracket/holes for the front license plate on your vehicle when you purchase it you are not required to install it. (I don't know if this is VA law or a national policy). At any rate, before putting holes in your shiny new vehicle I suggest doing research on that topic and asking your dealer (they do kinda have the burden of knowing these things after all). Of course I have not confirmed this information with local laws but I figure that if I do get pulled over for not having the front plate on I can claim ignorance and being given misinformation. By the by, what cop pulls a U-ey to give a ticket to a car he's passed without a front plate? It would seem to me that he is paying attention to the wrong **** if he notices it's not there on one of the thousands of cars he passes each day. That is just my 1/5 of a nickel.

I think your dealer is wrong. All cars sold in this country have to have the ability to mount a front plate for states that require it. The Z comes with a bracket for this purpose. Corvette guys are notorious for trying to skirt the front plate law because mounting their plate requires you to remove the Corvette insert in the front bumper.

I posted this earlier today in another thread:

Good ol' Virginia law:

§ 46.2-715. Display of license plates.

License plates assigned to a motor vehicle, other than a motorcycle, tractor truck, trailer, or semitrailer, or to persons licensed as motor vehicle dealers or transporters of unladen vehicles, shall be attached to the front and the rear of the vehicle. The license plate assigned to a motorcycle, trailer, or semitrailer shall be attached to the rear of the vehicle. The license plate assigned to a tractor truck shall be attached to the front of the vehicle. The license plates issued to licensed motor vehicle dealers and to persons licensed as transporters of unladen vehicles shall consist of one plate for each set issued and shall be attached to the rear of the vehicle to which it is assigned.

yeah in VA you need it, in some states you dont, such as here in NV, the law states that you must have a rear plate and you must apply a front plate if there is front plate bracket.

so yay for me :)

:inoutroflpuke:Bahahahahah. The bullsh!t stealers will spew now days.
Someone should make this into a game show. They walk into dealerships with hidden cameras and then play stupid and ask questions so we can all laugh at the ridiculous things salesman say.

Incidentally, does the front mounting bracket come with the car? Like for free? Cuz the dealer didn't give me mine. And as I understand California vehicle code, it is illegal to deliver a car to a purchaser without it installed unless the purchaser signed a waiver that they refused installation of the front bracket...

Yah just go back. They should give you one for free and probably will even offer to install it for you.

Im driving aroudn with out a front plate, i dont drive around a lot. I also drive slow. I suspect these factors will actualy let me go along time before i have to put on a plate.

That's the way it is in VA too. I had to sign a little paper when I told the guy not to install the front bracket yet.

Hey...That just says it needs to be attached, Not that it has to be visible! Mount it horizontally inside the nose or on the lower cover...;)

They are required to have front plates as well in Texas. My buddy was driving his evo x the other day and got pulled over by a state trooper and was given a written warning for not having a front plate...
