thats all matter of opinion. When i owned a Cobalt SS/SC, my girlfriend and I went to look at a 2008 EvoX. The big turn off for me was it had 4 doors. I wanted a coupe 2 door. Then traded the Cobalt in for a 370z, then traded that in for my SRT-10. Then traded the SRT-10 in for my 2011 EvoX. I recently blew the engine in my evo and while im rebuilding it i picked up a 03 cavalier for $600. God damn it pisses me off not having 4 doors. It's such a pain in the *** having to either put my seats forward for someone to sit in the back or put **** in the trunk instead of just tossing it in the back seats.

As for the old granny 4 door car. Well this old granny car was picking on and beating up a 09 Viper ACR, 05 Viper (intake, headers, mid pipe, exhaust, throttle body and tune), 05 Corvette at the track. The only one in my run group that was a challange was a STi. Me and the driver of the STI were fighting for second place all day and only a tenth of a second between our lap times.

imo, the EvoX is better then the 370z, and i've owned both and tracked both. The EvoX is better on and off the truck, end of story...lol.

You traded in a srt-10 for an evo?????

Unless the EVO X is a world better than a the EVO IX, I am not sure if my datalogger agrees with you.

Red = EVO IV stock with Ferrodo pads & OE tires; Blue = 370z stock with pads & RE11.

You are right I need an oil cooler to do track days, but my car is still cheaper than the EVO new vs new with the oil cooler.

The Z's brakes are bigger than the EVO and it is lighter, how can an EVO stop better? I understand if you had the OEM tires since they are worse than the EVO stock.

Your car doesn't handle better than a Viper (well assuming it has decent tires). The other driver was simply driving too slow. You really should be proud of yourself, not the car. The last GT-R i saw at the track only ran 1.5 sec slower than me, I know full well it wasn't the car. Have realistic expectations.

To make everyone happy, ill compair my EvoX vs my 370z that i had at the same track, stock for stock. Yes the Evo is AWD so ill leave out how it handled around turns. First of all the best thing about the evo...it doesnt over heat!!. We would do 7 laps at the track, lap 4 with the 370z i would go into limp mode...enough said on that.

Brakes.... i can come into a turn a hell of alot faster and brake later (but yet still hit the apex) with the Evo. The 370z i had no confidence in the brakes at all.

The only part that the 370z beat the Evo on the track imo was straight line. Which doesnt mean ****, hence why i beat 2 vipers that would pull away from me on the rear stretch but i would quickly catch up and pass with braking later and taking turns faster.

I'm not downing the 370z by any means. But imo the EvoX is better then 370z on and off the track. For off the track it has less blind spots then the Z, the clutch engagements are alot smoother, it has 4 doors and alot more space.

You sure about that? On the Evo forums you make it sound like the 370z is the worst sports car ever made.

to me, it was, hence why i got rid of it in 8 months.

yes i did, the truck was costing me $150 every 3 days in gas and they wouldnt let me on the track with it. I wanted something better on gas and something i could track.

Personally i dont care what results are posted by articals on the net. All i care about is what i feel in the car. The brakes in the Z heated up to fast and felt like a sponge. The way they felt with the Z in stock form, feels the same way my brakes do now with ~431hp. I'm pushing the brakes on the Evo alot harder with that power and after a few laps they feel the same way the Z did. But with stock power, i could push them all day and not have that issue.

shadoquad 08-17-2012 10:35 PM

How much did you spend getting the Evo to 431 hp? For less than 1,000 bucks, you could have fixed your oil heating and braking issues with the Z.

Also, after reading the car saga, sounds like you don't know what you want in a vehicle.

and still run +70s lap times. I was running 67's with bald tires, slipping clutch, stock suspension and learning braking points with the new power. But to answer your question approx $11k.

Just sayin', you complained about those problems as though they were dealbreakers. You didn't want to spend 1k to fix it. Anyone who tracks their Z pays that piper up front. The biggest unresolved issue is the fuel starve, and they've developed a solution to it, they just haven't brought it to market yet.

To each their own, and Evos are great vehicles, but it's an odd criticism in my mind.

"My stock 370z wasn't as good as my highly modified Evo". Apples to apples :ugh2:

Good, except I want to disagree with what you pointed out and I have had plenty of cars myself too. I just happen to have logs to prove my points.

i never said my modded evo was better then my 370z. Stock for stock the evo wins in my eyes. But im just going to leave it at that and not get into a pissing match, good night all

Well, that's your opinion, and that's fine. I was just responding to the points you presented.

It's my opinion that the Z was a better car for me, because it was rwd, much better looking, and a lot less cheap inside. Plus I could get in one for 4-5k less than an Evo. Never looked back. But I realize that other people have different needs from a vehicle.

A buddy of mine just got a 2011 sti, overall nice car except the check engine light came on 4 times in the same week he bought it. Each time involving a trip back to subaru for them to not be able to resolve the issue

Kingbaby 08-18-2012 08:10 AM

Many 04/05/06 Z cars had oil consumption problems

Many 370z have over heating problems

WRX and EVOs have replace engine problems

I'm not hating it just seems you beat on these 4door cars and they can hang for long? May it be the boost? I rather the Z over being a boost fanboy awd fanatic....you blame the tuner but I've seen this story locally!

The few problems you have with a Z aren't going to empty your wallet?

I agree with you on this, one of my friend's has a 2011 EVO and he loves it. swears up and down by this feel this turbo this handling. and dont get me wrong its a nice vehicle on the inside. the take off is better, but what AWD isn't? so whenever I go over his house we have an argument about which car is faster, then his friends chime in with them having a charger, a challenger, and a mustang. So to shut up the men ego I crunched some numbers along with the weight and handling and of course the Z came out on top with efficiency and friction loss. So yes it is up to your feel of the car and I am not criticizing the EVO but it all depends on the driver, in any one of those cars one could win, just depends on who is driving and how well. glad you are happy now :)

yep depends on the driver of the car, if you have no clue on how to drive the car, then the car your in (no matter how fancy or expensive it is) will be average at best lol (in matter of speaking)

and even then, you can adjust it to your liking. like I have an issue with my clutch, I will fix that issue because I am not liking the response time. there are little tweaking factors one can do along with suspension mods, weight increase if you cannot handle the RWD, because in my opinion you must have loved that car to begin with, why let something or someone change your mind?

jetguy 08-18-2012 09:50 AM

4 doors. based on an entry level econo-box. you can add all the wings, ground effects, and turbos you want; it will still never be as good as a scratch built sports car like the Z. even if the numbers are better, it still wont be as good from the driver's point of view. i have owned a wrx with big turbo (400+hp) and all supporting mods. Z is better.
