I want to ship the amuse front bumper and fedex quoted me $3,700 and UPS $1,800 haha. I flipped ...

:iagree:

But something is definitely wrong with your quote... I just shipped two packages between 50 and 60 lbs and it was $250 total through UPS ground with 2k of insurance.

Greyhound is cheapest but they also will manhandle the package a lot of times.

I work for UPS. if your shipping something that can be damaged, like a bumper, I'd consider not doing it unless you pack that thing to where a bomb could explode right next to it and not damage it

Its not the weight that is the problem here but the dimension of the box. The dimensional weight for a box that the bumper is in will exceed their normal weight/dims range so it will be really expensive (wont fit in their ground delivery truck)

Provide us with more info like where it is shipping from and where to. Find local trucking conpanies that do pallet rates or loose box deliveries.

I got my bumper from arizona to cali via a local trucking company for $68

Holy crap! What dims did you give them? Were you shipping it locally, within the continental US or internationall?? That is way to high, either you gave them the wrong information or are looking at Overnight/Express shipping.

We ship via FedEX Ground ALOT. It is not uncommon for us to ship 5 ~ 10 fascia a day. Granted the driver hates us, but it all fits.

OnTrac, Pilot Air, or Grayhound (yes... i did say grayhound... apparently they ship more then just PEOPLE)

I packed that thing to bomb can't explode it so the box is even bigger than the bumper, obviously. The amuse with undertray is big and i'm looking at the cheapest possible and that is all I got from them ... I almost got a heart attack

Yellow freight. Do not use grey hound unless you want it broken.

I used Greyhound to ship a 240sx convertible top that weighed about 100lbs for almost $100 from Houston to Atlanta and it was there the next day. When I went to drop off I saw a guy unloading about 10 fiberglass car bumpers and all he did was wrap them in bubblewrap and tape, no boxes. I guess they knew what to do with them.

No idea other about them than the A&E show but uship.com might be an option for you.

I shipped the rear strut tower covers by Greyhound and it cost me around $50 dollars. UPS quoted me $170. I only sold them for $150, so my response to them was, "Are you kidding me?". The package weighed 15 lbs.
For $11.30/lb, I can get some decent steaks WITH taters.

I transported a vehicle from Cordoba, TN to New Jersey and that cost $500. You should go online to a transport brokerage company and let them bid on the job. If a private guy is going your way for other jobs...adding your package is all profit. Be prepared to get a large number of email and phone calls. Also be careful as there are many shifty people that will call and change the price last minute.

You'd be amazed at the size of the boxes I get in that ground package delivery truck. It'll fit. I had a 6 foot tall 5 foot wide package weighing 180lbs last week. Wasn't to pleased with that one lol
