I never understood this argument. When I am stuck in bumper to bumper traffic, I stay in 1st the whole time. If it is slow moving traffic I stay in 2nd or 3rd with occasional downshift. Do you guys not look ahead when driving. I am always looking all around and way ahead. It's not that hard. My only complaint would be in bumper to bumper when stuck on a steep incline, and even that is minor once you get it.

I like white Z. It stands out. But you can't go wrong either way. As far as stick shift vs 7am, I'd always go for 6MT on a sports car. Just my 2 cents.

This is a decision you will need to make and it is tough because you'll be stuck with it once you sign the papers. I actually test drove both colors, GM Nismo and a PW ST. In speaking with a dealer, more GM colors went out in 2012 and is a very popular color. It does not show dirt as quick as the PW. It can go for days and look fine (I have an G37 with a similar GM shade). I have a PW and take the time to clean it everyday (I have OCD I think). It stands out under the sun with the pearl orient going on and at night, it has a nice distinct appearance because of the contrast between the dark background and simply makes the car stand out.

I wish they had a Sport white in manual when I was buying. I only had 1 week to buy before employee discount expired, so I had to settle for the 40th. But white is such a beautiful color on the Z. Get the white.

If you can, get a 2012 or newer because they come from the factory with an oil cooler. Stick or auto is up to you!

I've driven stick for a number of years, but got my Z in the 7AT and I have no regrets. I see both sides of the "stick vs. auto" argument...but this isn't your typical auto. It has the paddle shifting or bump shifting and both are very responsive...plus the auto is going to shift to the next gear faster than any human could. When I had UpRev done...my tuner increased my shift speed so when I'm in manual mode...my shifts are much faster so you get that "manual" feel as well. Just my $.02; I mean...you can't really go wrong with either of your choices.
Enjoy your Z and welcome to the family!

Hey OP, you still around? You're pretty quiet. Regarding color, GM or PW can't go wrong either way. But get PW cause I'm getting GM
Your original post says, you love a stick. Because of that I say, stick with that (no pun intended, ok maybe some ). Auto's with paddle shifters are great and can shift faster than I can with a manual, plus in real bad stop and go traffic, it's the best. But if you're like me, when you've got a clear mountain road ahead of you, pressing that clutch and shifting your own gears, is absolutely the best driving experience I can have! |
