The current cayman is ugly compared to our cars.
That said, if nissan rivals the porsche in 2015 and sadly goes to 4 cylinders? I'm going to guess we will again eclipse it in power while rivaling it in performance with a 2.7ltr, i-4 twin turbo giving 380hp.?????,

The 270zx???

Oh well??? I still rather it stay a smaller 6 with turbos.
I agree.

Agree. Would rather see a smaller 6tt.

Good find on the next Cayman S. Funny enough, if a next gen more efficient, yet more powerful 4tt is what NISSAN comes up with, in a lighter Z. Well if it came pushing almost 400hp I'd still feel like Z is still true to its heritage of fast, well handling rwd sports car. At this point it's like microprocessor technology. Sort of like a Moore's Law thing happening for car engines.

If you mean now as in current model? Its faster, but not enough to call it faster than our Z's. We generally beat them in overall acceleration up until 2012. Then it kinda tied up to a degree. Z auto is still faster than the PDK (believe it or not) porsches pdk is only .01seconds faster and there average quarter time is 13.4. Z autos can make 13.1 vs Z manual 13.4 average.

The porsches get around the track faster than a stock Z due to the mid-engine layout and being 180lbs lower in weight along with a better center of gravity on the porsche, thus, why we are outhandled on tracks by porsche. Straight line neck to neck. I think a Z can take the porsche unless its a top speed race. 155 vs 164mph.

True, people say the Z wasn't a fast car in 1970. But that's not quite true. The average accel to 60 back then was 8 seconds stock on a sports car with 16 second quarters. Cars didn't see 6 sub 6 second 60's and less than 14 quarters without serious modification. The Z was on par with most american sports cars with half the displacement. In that sense... it would reign true to its heritage to be able to achieve that feat.

Hmm, if Cayman is still the benchmark, then based on anything I've read, next cayman will be lighter, make 350 bhp with a turbo 4, so something in that ball park would be expected for the next Z.

Bumping the base power, even with the same motor, from 332 to 350 should be pretty easy to do.

I am not saying the Cayman S will blow the Z away, but it can certainly walk away given that they have virtually the same amount of acceleration and it handles better. I am not sure how you can spin it any other way? It is half the price, so that is good. Straight line test, hmm I am not sure there are that many drag racers interested in a little 2 seater like the Z or the Cayman or any Porsche for that matter. Why cramp yourself in a little car when you can get a Mustang to do the same thing.

No one claimed drag Z's even though i see Z's and porsche's amungst other cars dragging at the import face off and other less popular events all the time... just giving some straight line facts between the porsche n Z. I also said why the porsche wins on the track.

I am not sure that I am following this threads various thoughts (by a few different members). How did the Z become a compeditor against the 5.0? Magazines? Got it!

Why are so many people picking up Zs and not realizing what they got into? Oh yeah, there are a ton of Zs in the classifieds.

Want more power or better handling? The aftermarket is an amazing thing!

Would we really benefit from having a factory TT or even single? I seriously doubt it. The price tag will reflect it and we will be back at the point where it is out of people's reach or be too bargin to be reliable.

Since we are tapping the wishing well, give me back an inline motor with harmonic stabalizer and a small T28. That way I can get some monster twin scroll turbo with an HTA setup.

i spent 37k out the door for my Z. if someone added an extra 20k in mods.... as you claim. they will have at minimum... An 800hp Z with a $5000 suspension on a 3300lb car that get 1.01g stock and about 1.15g on the aftermarket suspension doing a top speed of 180mph and the quarter in the low 10's while scaling a track twice as fast as a stock 60k cayman and a third faster than a BOSS 302 valued at $50k with markup. before mods...

Seems like you are friggin clueless to the potentiality of the Z as a modded vehicle. you are not looking at the true comp-network it will engage and how well it will do. you are looking at basic corporate endorsed mag stats and rhetoric from lower life-forms who don't understand anything about what goes into cars.
The Z has technological advancements that may help change the future and aid the performance of all cars in general in the future while the mustang just has a really fast motor on a 8decade old suspension thats been tweeked with high tech springs. its been saved by ford learning a trick or two about balance.... you can thank mazda for that. But if it wasnt for the Z??? All these cars would just either be fast or good handlers. You wouldnt get both unless you paid 6 figures. The Z broke that mold in 89 and is a leader of power/handling combo's today. No stang gives you a Z's feedback, seating position and incredible ergonomics for premium driver focus. look under your Z and compare it to the muscle cars....

Man you are really straight talkin' out your azz troll. what do you really know about this car? How does it operate? what is the philosophy behind the Z experience?
what did you expect from the car when you bought it????

Honestly. I don't even think you own a Z. I think you're a forum hopper and just claims to have one for whatever reason you think you need to claim it. You own a 12 and 3 years of car magazines and tv shows didnt give you a hint of what to expect??? top speed, motorweek and various shows on SPEED didn't drop you a clue??? You're F.O.S. and i dont call you out any further than this because i will get penalized for it...

Make your next post credible or STFU... Thank you.
