Speed limit reduced

I noticed this morning that the speed limit had been reduced by 5 MPH to 40 MPH. It was 55 for years with a broken yellow for passing then 50 with double yellows and then 45, now 40 MPH. This patch of road has no visible homes or cross streets for two miles.

Can progress ever be reversed? How could a faster limit be reimplemented? Does anybody know the process?

If more people actually how to drive, and no talking on the phone or texting while driving, the posted speed limit might be increased.

They've been increasing the speed limits on a bunch of roads in Texas without ever asking me about it. I would have said go ahead, so it's all good.

Contact the city/county and ask for an explanation while giving your complaint. Perhaps residents nearby have complained about speeders, passing, racing, etc. Find out accident/death stats for that road...this can make or break your case. You were vague, so I cannot advise specifically who to contact.

I have no doubt some body complained. About what I have no clue, all of the above I suppose; speeders, passing, racing. No deaths. No drive ways, no homes, no crashes, no intersections.

Not normally so I agree. Tuesday six cars were being issued tickets on my drive home. I had been given the heads up thankfully before I headed home.

Yeah I have a few roads like this where I grew up, the only change was the police station was moved closer to these roads so the speed limit dropped 15-20mph. And the cops are always driving to and from the station. The only reason it was changed was for the township to make more money.

The shitty part isn't the tickets, after a month people remember and the cops leave/give up, but the speed limit is still the same.

Makes me appreciate Texas speed limits just a bit more.
