I just drove a 135i today. I wouldn't go so far as saying I didn't like it, but I will say that it was not what I expected. There is no way around it, the 1 series is just plain ugly. It's proportions are terrible. Classic post-Bangle BMW - they know they can sell anything with their badge on it, so they didn't even bother making the car attractive (not like they have much of any style in any of their vehicles right now.) The 370Z's style is controversial, but it actually has style.
The interior is much the same. It completely lacks character. The materials were great, but there is nothing to get excited about. As for driving, since that's what really matters, it was pretty good. We all know the car is capable of being fast, but it never felt like it wanted to. It felt happy just driving along with all the soccer moms in their black and gray BMWs. The 1 is not as focused as the 370Z (going off reviews,) but it has that classic BMW feel. It's solid, comfortable, and a bit boring. This is a car for posers who want to occasionally drive fast, not gear heads who want to occasionally be comfortable. 2009 Nissan 370Z vs. BMW 135i Comparison Test on Inside Line Spoiler: Z wins. This review swayed my opinion a bit. Last edited by ohdeasu; 12-15-2008 at 12:53 AM. |
