Quote from Nissan 370z mailed brochure;

Nothing Else Moves Like a Z.
Nothing Else Feels Like a Z.
Nothing Else Compares Like a Z.

A beast for the price.
But, again, it all depends on your needs.

It's pretty much all been said, but I will chip in with this:

I'm at 6062' above sea level. At this height, forced induction is NICE. I'm a Chuck Norris roundhouse kick away from Colorado's premeir ski resorts. AWD and forced induction is EVEN BETTER. But I'd still rather have the Z. I don't need a back seat for this car, and the hp it'll give away at altitude it will more than get back with its appetitie for the twisties. And heck, I've got my '01 S4 for the ski mountain runs anyway. So... 135i? Tempting, and though I like the overall look of it, it just misses for me somewhere. Probably the fact that it's really only playing at being a 4-seater and wasn't quite the 2002 reincarnate fans imagined it was going to be. Camaro? Talk to me when you can get it to lose 500lbs, GM. Seriously, a 3800lb car? Really?

It's down to the Z, the M Coupe, and the Cayman S. But I can only afford the price of one of them. From what we've read so far, think I'll miss out on much? ;)

S.

I freak'n love the Cayman S. If only I could afford one...oh what the future holds.... god knows....

I really wanna see how the Camaro is going to handle with the new multilink in the rear. As far as gas guzzling, ever driven a stock 6 spd LS1 Camaro/Trans Am? 5th and 6th are both overdrives. A few bolt ons and that car will be making 450-500 easy.

Damn im really torn between the Camaro and Z now lol

Hiway Star 12-08-2008 08:55 PM

the camaro all the way if you're going to mod it....the aftermarket for american muscle, especially chevy/gm is impressive. That being said I'd rather have the better handling, more refined Z and will sell/trade my '06 GTO to do so. I will sacrifice straight line performance (my GTO is not stock).

Straight line performance is good but kinda gets old in everyday driving. Once you drive a better handling car, you can never go back to softer mushy suspension cars, EVER!

Curb weight
est 3175 lb

This is taken straight from road and track. I would love to know how car and driver got 400 more pounds added into it.

Hiway Star 12-09-2008 06:15 AM

exactly why I'm looking to move on......

Who knows. For some reason I think the car is definately lighter. One of the reviews (SORRY can't remember which one), the reviewer commented how the car was definately lighter; he could feel it.

cstr_Cali 12-09-2008 11:49 AM

I've never NEVER liked cars with soft suspension. I like to feel the road and know where I am while I'm on it. Otherwise driving is just pointless, as I see it.

Minicobra1 12-10-2008 05:06 AM

Well, bottom line for me is base or fully loaded, the 135i is going to be $7-10K more, either way you look at it. The camero is just too heavy, and I can only imagine how much the dealer mark up is going to be in the SS version, prob the same like when the new Mustang Cobra came out.

I know this car wasn't mentioned by the OG poster, but I'm thinking the new 09 Z4 coupe will probably be the better one to compare to the Z. They are both 2 seaters and similar wheelbase, etc.
It will have the same 300hp motor as 135i, will be lighter, and base model about the same price. I'll bet that this will be one of the better performing/handling BMW's in the whole line, with the exception of some M models. It's sceduled to be unveiled around Dec 15th.

For me, it's the 370Z save my 8K for suspension upgrades and a twin turbo kit:yum:

Minicobra, I completely agree that the Z4 will be the better car to compare the Z to. I posted over in the Motive review a Car and Driver link that compared the Cayman to the Z4M. It's figures also match the Z's pound for pound.

I am sure the 09 Z4 will be close also....

Yeah, I'm basically down to the 370Z, Camaro SS, and Porsche. I thought about the BMW 135i, but that was ruled out.

You can speculate all you want, but I rather be patient and wait for the reviews to come out and compare the two. Sure, Camaro is 700 pounds heavier, but power to weight ratio, the Z is equal to it. I'm sure the Z can handle better, but someone test drove the V6 Camaro and said it was the best handling muscle car ever. So we'll see. I like both a lot. The 350Z was fun, but the one thing it doesn't and CAN'T have is a V8. V8s just sound gorgeous, and just have a great fun factor.

But my thing is I have two little kids, and I would like to every now and then pick them up from school. I can't with a two seater. Porsche might take the cake there. So we'll see. I still have till 2010 to make up my mind.
