Bodyshop f_ucked me over. Need advice

I was havin my bodykit painted at te bodyshop, they messed up the paint 3 times. Took 2 months and it's still not the right color. I paid my friend to put on and off the parts 3 times only to find out the color did not match an had to take back to them. Now the parts are on the car, at the shop and they want to charge me 350 to take the parts off to paint and install. My friends won't do it again since its a pain in the rear. It wasn't my fault that the color did not math. They said it would be ok to paint while the parts are on the car and now they are saying otherwise. I'm very pissed and the owner wants me to pay the 350 or they can't paint afraid the painter will mess up my oem paint job that are too close to the kit... What should I do in this situation?

This.

The paint shop should have removed the pieces for you. And they should also be able to blend it to look fine.

Take it somewhere else, where they know what they're doing.

I would like to see some pics if you have them

Thing is they did some pieces for me last time and they turned out good. I returned for more pieces to be painted. He didn't let me take the parts out of his shop to be put on the car so I paid him and when I put them on, they didn't match. Now I'm stuk because I paid and they won't refund me ...

The best body shop and only place I will trust to do any work on my Z in the MidA area is Wilson's Autobody. Give a call to Frank Wilson, he will take care of you. (3539 South Hanover Street Baltimore, MD 21225 (410) 355-5310).

He does work for the Baltimore Ravens and all the work he does is beyond amazing, his rates are excellent for the quality of the work and he doesn't try to make a quick buck out of you. He specialises on a lot of 350s/370s/Gs/Corvettes/Mustangs and will be able to fix the half a$$ job the other shop did for you. :tiphat:

I've learnt the hard way years ago.... don't be cheap when it comes to paint the car you love. nuf' said

sometimes you just need to cut your losses and start over at a quality shop. Unfortunately, the money is spent and gone. Go to the recommended shop above, or to another one you get some good recommendations from.

This is why I'll never buy another car with tri-coat paint. My door handles took 2 tries to get a decent match.

OP, can you leave the car at another shop while they repaint the kit? At least leave a mud guard or something they can use to match the paint and compare.

I agree. Go to another body shop. Its hard finding a good shop. Especially where I live.

Let me ask you a question... am I misunderstanding you or did you bring the parts to the shop without the car for the first 3 times. 75% of shops won't paint a body part without the car to make sure it blends and the 25% that will do not guarantee the paint matches.

Usually they will take the car and paint the parts off of it to make sure all the seams are hit correctly but it will assist them in matching the paint. Just spraying it the paint code generally is not enough.

If you decide to take it somewhere else, don't ask your friend to remove the parts... bring everything to the shop and ask them to blend it. You are going to have to temporarily lose your car and pay more for the labor, its part of the game.

I will second this recommendation. Wilson's does excellent work and I also went there based on birdman's recommendation. Don't get scared off by the crappy roads leading to the shop, they are a very reliable shop that does high quality work.

Enforce your lawyers if anything
That's pretty messed up.
If they said they could do it, why did it not turn out that way?
