2009 or 2010?
I was contemplating on if I should wait till 2010 models or get one right now! Would dealers be as negotiable for the 2010 models as they are for the 2009 Z's? What do you guys think?

I have a feeling there are going to be a bunch of 09 left on the lot. Midway nissan in phoenix is such a shitty dealership they still have the blue one I almost bought from them back in february.

Nissan is holding its inventory. If you look at most dealers (in the NE), they are still holding the same stock from a few months back. There are definitely cars at port waiting to be delivered.

Wait for the 2010 MY. Maybe Nissan will fix a few niggles the second time around.
The main issues are: need for an oil cooler, sound insulation in the wheel wells and exterior heated mirrors. Kinda doubt any of those will be fixed, but still, if you've waited this long, a few more months won't kill you. Martin |

There "might" be newer minor features, like the ones already available in Japan, or not. The best way to determine that is to wait for the announcement of the 2010 US model and see how the dealers are handling sales after that. For all the times I have told myself that I should have waited, there have been an equal amount times that I've kicked myself in the a$$ for doing so.

If you keep waiting for what's next, you'll always be waiting. The new model will probably be more expensive anyway. And, if there's anything new, you can probably get it retrofitted for a decent difference? Don't waste time, get behind that wheel!

I'd get it now if you can afford it - you never know what the future holds. Why not enjoy the car now - I know I am ('cept for today since I didn't get to drive it ...

The '10 models are going to be more expensive; not from Nissan, but from the dealers. There's a LOT of '09's sitting on the lots, most of them either base or automatic. They're going to try to get rid of those cars before the '10s come out, which won't happen, so the price on the '09s will drop while the '10s all go up in price to help get rid of old inventory.
I'd buy an '09 now if I were you. If the '10's come out and are WAY better, you can always take a small hit and trade the '09 in. But you'll likely be very happy with your car if you get an '09. I drove a couple and was very impressed.

The only reason I'm waiting for an '10 is that there are no '09's out there that are exactly what I want... so ordering a vehicle would mean 60-90 days, and here in Michigan winter will already be coming around the corner. So that means 1 month with the '09, which isn't really worth it.
Also I think there may be minor changes (as all first year vehicles need some tweaks), though I dont expect to see an oil cooler. Also keep in mind that next year is the 40th anniversary, so that makes upgrades more likely. |
