Anybody here had their windshield replaced? Can you share some of the things I should be weary about. Is Safelite good company? I wanted to have the OEM windshield back

Windshield Relaced
Anybody here had their windshield replaced?
Can you share some of the things I should be weary about. Is Safelite good company? I wanted to have the OEM windshield back they are offering an aftermarket one with no NISSAN mark on the glass. Thanks |

Safelite is going to be extremely hit or miss. Every location is going to give a different experience. Mine was horrible (chipped the roof, had to have it repainted). Also don't use their glass, it's literally the cheapest **** quality windshield you can find. If you are near the Orlando area, I'd just find a local shop (call any body shop you know, they'll give you a referral, and it won't be Safelite).
Also, since you are in Florida you don't need to pay a deductible or anything, so I wouldn't settle with cheap.

^Exactly what Flashburn said. My parents needed to have their windshield replaced on their RX400h and used SafeLite against my advice. The Safelite glass's black surround doesn't match the dash or the original windshield at all and the installed scratched up the paint on the roof and A pillars.
Find another option if you can, or at least insist on using OE glass.

What ever you do, don't allow one of the at home or mobile installers do it they will almost always hack up your car.
Since most cases it will be handled by your insurance company, its best to use one that they recommend and work with and make sure you go to one that you can drive to inspect their facility and that has trained techs present. Also make sure that all new factory OEM gaskets and trim pieces are used, do not allow them to reuse old moldings, as they often crack and blister the chrome plating after reuse. I use a company called Schmidts Auto Body and Glass if they have a location in your area their work is top notch. Or simply have it replaced by your Nissan Dealer in your area, there collison shop should be able to handle it and make sure you get a factory OEM windshield, you hav ethe right to demand that your cars parts are replaced with OEM nissan parts. Thanks guys yes Im kinda anxious about them messing up the A pillars and they insist that the aftermarket glass is 3x better than OEM glass. I'll try to call the nissan dealership here if they can do a better job. |

I used Safelite at the recommendation of my insurance to have my wife's windshield chip repaired, as far as I can tell they did a good job.

I really don't know if I'll just stick with it having the crack anyway they said it will not go further since they repaired it. I guess the guy who did mine did not do a good job. |

Also, it's insane how many trim pieces need to come off of the 370Z in order to replace the windshield. It was truly cringe-worthy. I remember my old RSX, I don't think they had to remove any trim pieces to remove the glass.
