Most important though is to find a large open lot that's empty so no one gets pissed.
i do the same thing-gut reaction is to immediately let off-havent had the guts to really get into it yet. Chirping the tires in 2nd is fun though!

(getting more intimate w Z daily-will post up as soon as i actually get confidence and circumstances aligned!)

It's one of those things like going hot into corner on a bike. Survival reaction is to chop the throttle which upsets the suspension, makes the bike want to stand up, resulting in an even wider corner. Right thing to do is to remain calm and relaxed (esp upper body), when in doubt, give it more throttle.

I'm sure similar concept applies here. Find yourself a big open parking lot with no light poles or other fixtures and have at it.

For people who have practiced in open lots: Has anyone ever given you trouble over it? Store owners or even police?

So this was me on a wet day but it dont
After if it's wet or dry its gonna be harder in a 370 to drift then a nismo because of your open diff. You need a 1.5 LSD at least to be able switch back drift. You can always faint drift going into a corner hot and throwing the car off balance and coming out of the corner in a drift. Or e-brake into it which locks the rear with the clutch in and then turn and pop the clutch to get the wheels to spin with no traction. Also turn of ur rev match.

the one time dirfted was in a parking lot, but it was at night so no cops or store owners were present....however I wouldn't recommend doing it.

was able to do this myself with very little effort required...had it in 1st with vdc off and gunned it through a right hander, drifted perfectly and once i was through the turn slapped it down into second and took off like normal. my 370 gave me a sense of confidence while doing this as it just was so balanced i could not believe it, love this car even more the more i drive it and get used to it.

I've tried getting the back end out before on my car, but it snaps out fast for me and I always panic too much and let off instinctively. Short wheelbase+wide sticky tires make it so you have to be more familiar with the car, although I'm sure the basics would be the same as most other cars.

Most important though is to find a large open lot that's empty so no one gets pissed.
I had that problem with the stock tires on the sports package (back goes out really quick). That is what I liked about the hankooks even though they have less grip (are much cheaper and last longer and quieter) is that they seem much more predictable when you are loosing traction.

Yea I wouldn't recommend practicing it often unless you enjoy buying 1500 dollar sets of tires every three months

Remember parking Lots can be very slick..They seem to be slicker than the public roads.

So be careful. I have been known to do a side show or two..Not in the 370Z....Yet.

Also select on ramps are a good spot for a drift..Provided it is early morning and no one is around...
