Me! however it wasnt the Z, and I had years and years of operating clutches on motorcycles. If it were my Z, I wouldnt want it to be the first manual car iv driven.. the clutch is tough for veteran stick drivers! Find a friend with a beater stick car and get some practice.. IMO

The year was 1968, and it was my father who drove home my 1964 Chevy Impala SS 327 4-speed that I bought used from a gas station in town for 1200 bucks. Had my license 2 weeks before I had my first accident.

I was 14 when I started "borrowing" my father's car during his siesta. I kept stalling up a busy hill rush hour easily 300 times and for a good 30mn (I can still remember the nasty things passersby & drivers kept shouting at me). My father sent me to driving school the very next day, 2 months later, I had my license and crashed the new car he offered me... the same day Now I can drive manuals even if I had no limbs or was in coma.

You'll be fine as long as you give yourself plenty of room for mistakes from other drivers around you and watch out for those suicidal flying bikers

driven 3 stick cars, before the Z

I can say the clutch isn't user friendly.

This car is really finicky and wants to be driven correctly and a certain way. *learning the engagement points*

Once you get use to it, everything is fine.

I owned an STI and EVO before this car and their clutches is easier to operate.

My frist stick car was a mitsubishi lancer and i drove the **** out of that trying to learn. I burnt its clutch then sold the car.

A 1953 Chevy Bel Aire. Three on the tree. I was 17. I had read about clutch operated cars and understood the principle. First I hitch hiked, then took the BART (subway). I got the car and drove it home as I figured it out. By the time I got home I was proficient.

Within a year I had a 5 speed 280Z.

My first time operating a manual car, was actually my dads truck. My dad was (and still is) a tough guy and didnt give me much slack, and never let me win anything. Sounds like im complaining but im not just trying to build a picture of what I was dealing with.

I was able to buck and jerk us about 4 miles away from home because he was making me so nervous. I never stalled because like someone else posted I had the mechanics down from ATV's and Dirt Bikes. His facial expressions and sighs when I let the clutch out to quick was enough to make me get out, walk home, and say im just going to own AT's.

Next day my Mom took me outside said drive, and I drove 20 miles no problems. Even had a steep incline I stopped on. I have been driving MT's ever since.

P.S My dad and I get along great by the way and I thank him for raising me the way he did every chance I get. When I want something I go get it, I dont wait for it to be handed to me.

Bought my 2nd car and 1st stick when I was 19 at an auction. A mustang w a 4 speed A buddy taught me how to drive it on the way home. By evening I was able to play safely in traffic.

The Zed has a bas***d clutch. While not as nasty as some race clutches I've had to contend with it isn't very forgiving of mistakes. I learned this after a 10 year hiatus from a stick when I bought the car in May. Still learning it's moods.
