That would actually be pretty cool, have another trim level with a turbo. Why hasn't Nissan ever done that?

If they make the Nismo like the next IPL G coupe it would be awesome, but I doubt that will happen. 530 hp TT V6

And you don't see 500,000 of them being recalled like Ford Focuses for sticking accelerators or other problems so you should be glad that Nissan is not like Ford.
What they should do is bump the low end torque a little, bump the horsepower up to about 375, address the interior NOISE issue and redesign the dash to add an analog clock where the digital clock is and an analog fuel and temp gauge, and an ALL LEATHER interior instead of the stupid mouse fur inserts. This is all easily possible and at moderate cost.
You aren't going to see a 3000 lb sports car again with today's safety requirements and all of the luxury stuff like power windows and seats either.
the reason the seats are not all leather is so that you don't slide around the seats when making hard turns...the GTR has the same thing. It keeps your butt planted.

Just as an FYI, the Next IPL coupe is projected to have a price tag >100K if it does get the TT V-6. It will basically be a luxury GTR. THey want it to compete with the likes of the C63 AMG Black edition.

I know dude that's why I put the wink.

It would be really cool if they brought back a turbo V6 with a stout set of internals that would allow you to make some fairly minor warranty-voiding changes and make 400 whp or so.

Not sure how it would do from a sales or profit standpoint, though.

Oh I know. I didn't say it would be affordable, but it would be pretty cool.

ok my 2 cents. the 370 was introduced with bad timing. by that i mean it came out when the camaro, 5.0 stang challenger all with v8's were coming out or already out. and the 370 got lost or caught up in that bunch......

we all know the 370 looks better than the above cars and rides and handle's better than the above cars....

also imho there's not a car made for 40g or under that's better than a 370
and i'm talking about rear wheel drive 2 seat sports cars.
the 370 is meant for a chosen few, hey we're special people

all that being said and i love my car but if nissian doesn't increase hp to at least
375hp, 400 would be better. i'm on the fence about looking else where.....

can you imagine a new 400z. you would need to go to a track to learn how to drive it. well at least i would..... sorry to ramble.....

I feel the same way Sonic. It was also bad timing because of the economy crashing. Unfortunately for the Z, having 2 seats makes it less practical. This may have caused some potential buyers to switch to other cars that have 4 seats and more space.

Also the GT-R didn't start at $100k. When it came out in 2009 it was sold at $70k MSRP. The reason it shot up is because it outperformed all those cars that were way above it. They made performance improvements every year so it stayed competitive and the price rose with them every year. Even though it's price kept going up, the GT-R still can't be beat performance wise at it's price point and that is why it is still doing well. This is not the case for the Z. It can and is beat at its own game for the same cost if not even a tiny bit cheaper. The GT-R is Nissan's halo car and their most expensive one so it doesn't have a price ceiling. The Z may go up in price, but they do have to somewhat keep it in check based on their competition.

I hope that's not true. Would be such a shame to lose such a magnificent automotive achievement.

People always/usually expect new generation has to be bigger displacement, more horses, better here and more there.

No one mention/think about the price...

How much a V8 or 400hp Fairlady should price at??

30K? Is it possible? Surely, when the overall quality has to be lowered to compensate the cost.

40K+?? General public might consider other brands, especially European brands.

Some say a FI Fairlady, some say a V8, some say with a turbo option.....

How much money do you want Nissan to spend on the development of the next Z? Or... be realistic, how much do you think Nissan will spend on the development of the next Z???

Some say cross-platform... alright, it could work, and how much are you willing to pay for a V8 Fairlady? Or... be realistic, how much do you think the general public will spend on a Japanese car??

Yes, horsepower is important for a sports car, but other factors are also as same important in the formula of strong sales.

Look at Toyota Supra, very good sports car, strong horsepower, it make huge noise when it first came out... turbo, lots of horsepower blah blah blah... and Toyota withdrawn it from the North American market after years of its weak sales... because of its hefty price tag on a Japanese car....

Imagine, the next Z got those upgrades such as horsepower, FI options... what will the price tag look like??

Bad timing on the introduction of 370z, surely.

And currently the economy is not any better than couple years ago.... do you think it's a good time to introduce a new but more expensive Z??

my CAD$0.02
