The important thing to me is to improve power/weight ratio and most importantly if the car is to remain true to the sports car heritage it should get lighter. |

How do you think they could lower weight? Anyone know how the 370 was lightened from the 350? The problem is probably that beyond a certain point it starts getting pricey to lower weight further, which nissan doesn't want to do.

Show me an NA v6 that is as powerful and as fast as the VQ in america and i will mail that guy a box of milkbones. what kills me is how the american market gets angry over the Z not being as fast as a GT. but the 3.7 v6 stang is its displacement rival. yet the Z is a few 10ths short of a mustang GT. Everybody wants the Z to be the fastest on the bock. QUESTION? IF our Z was a 12.4 second car stock. It would cost almost as much as a M3. Would you guys buy it? hell naw. you'd be complaining the Z wasnt as HQ as a BMW. you guys would talk about the overpriced nissan like its a kia. The gtr suffers that now and its the fastest production car in the market. there's nothing wrong ith the current Z except i still dont really understand vvel. And if that's why we supposedly have oil heating issues? Then maybe we don't need it? Would i welcome a new and more capable V6 ONLY engine in the Z??? Hell yeah. FI? hell yesssssss. v8... fukk no. u want a f'in muscle car? buy one. i didn't buy the Z to compete or feel like a stang. you have the stang and the bimmer to perform like each other. leave the Z a cult car... love it or leave it and i"ll order the rhd from japan when they decide to chuck an american version. |

No matter what they are going to need to bring up HP to match the mustang and other related cars. They will probably use DI and a efficient turbo like most car companies are doing now. It will be a smaller motor. They will probably use more aluminum in the suspension. My Sky had the aluminum rear axel out of the CTS-V. I am sure Nissan can switch to a lighter rear axel.

It's all about multi powertrain options. Ford is KING of this. Give us a boosted 4 and a beastly V8! Cost can still be kept low if they borrow the previously mentioned power plants from the infiniti/nissan line-up.
Cheaper car for those who want it. BEAST MODE car for the others 420hp in a Z would be FAST and fun... but still shouldn't detract from GTR owneres. No way would you get a 0-60 in 2.9 with a V8 RWD Z.

they could always just borrow the fits tranny... I think that they found a way to fail harder with that than CVT!

Good question. Lightweight materials are more expensive, that is for sure, and since they also want to improve the cost it seems likely they'll make the car smaller.
