They would now have a choice between a used GT-R or a new Z. Either way they are buying Nissan. Most "what should I get" forums here are for a Z or a 5.0 or a Corvette. The gap between the Z and GT-R is too great and needs to be narrowed.

So why not cross platform with Infiniti V8 vs V6? Instead they talk about a smaller Nissan shared platform. Yadah, yahda, profit. Economics. Remove passion. I get it. I too think the car is brilliant for what it is.

they are making a strong distinction between budget and luxury, GTR being their only exception. |

Nissan. Need to update the technology on all the motors. The VQ needs DI, with turbo smaller displacement @ 3.0 Power and Torque. With a lot the goodies oil sprayers, cooler, twin clutch. That would make the car fun and fuel efficient.
Heck my 2.0 DI turbo in my Sky made 300 whp 350 torque with tune and driving like a bat out of hell I could maintain 18 mpg. Boosting to 24 lbs. |

They will keep the 5.0 for performance but the Turbo4 2.0 has already been taken to 275 hp/280 ft/lbs in one iteration and to 300 hp in another . The V6 users aren't going to be as critical of engine type as the V8 crowd and if they save on gas, the help the fleet average. I'd bet 5.0 and 2.0 turbo for the 2015 model. They could go withhte turbo V6 as the power option but I'd bet they's see a large loss in their existing base and Ford ain't stupid. Hell, they may offer all three. Choice is nice!

370Z 18/26 MPG. V6 is 2 MPG better on each end. Hardly the normal V6 vs V8 difference. I've never made either number in the real world either.

The current z model is comparable to a porche Boxster or cayman for half the price. I don't see why Nissan doesn't continue to refine the current iteration of the z instead of going with a smaller lighter version, I know i won't be buying a turboed 4 popper. I would however buy a turboed 6 cylinder

Nissan sells like 40k Altimas a month, I think the Z sells well under 500. Last edited by 2011 Nismo#91; 07-26-2012 at 05:15 PM. |

yah, so basically borrow parts from platforms that sell well and i think that's the only way to keep the Z a budget sports car in this current economy.
imagine the next Z sharing the new sentra/versa/juke platform. |
