Not convinced OP ran into fuel starvation but I have (twice). Once on the track and once on public streets. The one on track was caught on video, heh.

I went through the same deal as the OP, except I towed the car a mile down the road to a gas station

The worst thing is watching your car scrape onto the flatbed. Poor INGS lip...

Or better yet, have a cop stand behind you for 30 min while you are getting towed off the hwy
