What do the current EVOs run? I haven't kept up with them since 4 doors is not a go.

shabarivas 06-22-2009 12:55 AM

evo X stock runs a 4.9 0-60 and a 13.4/5 qtr mile...

evo X + 3k = 3.9 0-60 and a 11.X qtr mile :p

EVO_Killer 06-22-2009 02:39 PM

I took that name because I was trying to buy a Evo X for 2yrs and had a b**ch of a time. I had the deposit on the first one in Winnipeg. Both Mitsubishi Dealers were A**holes! One tried telling me the recession was over so no deals off MSRP. The other had extra charges out the A**. $399 Doc fee, $499 PDI fee (because there is lots to check over with Japanese cars they told me), and $122.50 Enviromental tax. Even after all that the GM put 800KM on the car and would not let me test drive it!!! I walked out and right across the street was a Nissan Dealer. Walked in and saw a Carbon Silver base 370Z. Fell in love instantly! The salesman offered to clear the showroom to get it out so I could drive it right then! 4 Weeks later I picked up mine!

BoBoTee 06-22-2009 10:03 PM

The 08's Evo X's are going for $4000. less sticker price.

EVO_Killer 06-23-2009 09:08 AM

I actually got my 09 370Z with sport and nav with 10Km for $300 cheaper than an 08 Evo MR with 800Km.

EvilEvo 06-29-2009 10:14 AM

I own a pretty much stock Evo IX MR, and by that i mean it's only got a catback exhaust and an intake which is relatively tame in the Evo Community and I'm a rare bread since a lot of Evo's are way more modded. I'd say a 370 and a Evo IX are pretty damn close, Evo X you'd leave it. Good Luck with "Killin Evo's" you'll need it.

Brazilbro 06-29-2009 12:22 PM

I almost killed an evo at the track last week, if it would have been 1/2 mile and not 1/4 i would have. He got me off then line with a 1.9 60ft to my 2.19 but at the end it was his 13.6 at 101 to my 13.7 at 103. his was an Evo 8 with intake and exaust

You shouldn't have too many problems with stock Evos (or even slightly - SLIGHTLY - modded ones) with your current bolt-ons.

Mitsubishi ahs always been kinda dick about Evo test drives (except the dealership that I got mine, anyways).

hahaha awesome sig dude.

Huh? Since when are the IXs faster than the Xs?

BoBoTee 07-09-2009 06:39 PM

The IX has always been faster because the X is heavier.

They kinda even out, the ix is lighter but the x is much more mod friendly.
The X is almost hitting 300 awhp with just a drop in filter and a tune.

Not to mention the chassis on the X is way stiffer. These cars are heavier but extremely nimble on the track. Although heavier...the Evo X was a huge improvement over the IX performance wise. As mod friendly the 4G63 is...the 4B11 has proven to be even more responsive to modifications...its just plain wrong how fast you can make that car!!!! btw...i race a Subaru, so I had to swallow my pride to make that statement :eekdance:

Yeah my buddy's x gain an extra 60awhp from a stock tune bumping him up to a nice 280awhp with just a tune.

X's Horsepower numbers doesn't always prove that it's better or faster then the Evo 8 or 9's. Yes the evo X makes nice numbers on the dyno but, it's nowhere as raw in performance as the 8 or 9's. A X and 9 with a fp red turbo the 9 ran somewhere in the 9's while the X ran high 10's both with similar mods and race gas. Ask any Evo owners which one is the raw performer they will tell you the same. I know because I used to own one with 400awhp.

sorry...i have to disagree with you. For the last 2 years, I've been the sales/marketing director for Robispec...we specialized in Evo's. We've built these cars from ground up...I'm speaking from a track perspective where everything as a whole is measured...power and handling. I've seen it first hand, and driven them both on the track. Hands down...Mitsubishi hit the nail on the head with the X. Don't get me wrong...it took me a while to warm up to the X because I liked the 8 and 9's more...but once I drove them on track and saw the lap times these things can do, I was convinced.

BoBoTee 07-09-2009 10:18 PM

The X might perform slightly better on the track, but the 8 and 9's has the best 1/4 and handles more boost stock. I don't think you need to be a pro to drive the X's because Mitsubishi engineered it so well it practically drives itself. It's pretty hard to get those things loose.

This is true but u you gotta understand the 4g63 has been out since like forever and everyone knows what they are capable of and most tuners like GST has been working on this engines on DSM's for years before the evo8 and 9 came out here in the states. Compare to the 4b11 which is has been only out for two years is just barely scratching its potential most tuners are just starting to learn the true potential of the 4b11 so far it's fairing well and in some cases better than the 4g63. So the jury is still out on this one we won't know how much more potential 4b11 is capable of till a couple of years from now.

Remember when Mitsu announce that their using the 4b11 everyone started having a heart attack i know cause i was one of those guys "i don't want an aluminum engine" but so far the 4b11 has proved me wrong and surprising me on how much power this engines can crank out.

Pls let me know if i gave out some false statements as i'm new to the evo world and most of my knowledge on mitsubishi 4g63 and 4b11 is very limited as most of them i learned from my friends that owns evo's.

i have no ide 07-10-2009 12:26 PM

The 370Z's are nice cars but i went with the EVO cause they are easier to mod. I like to have the GO!!!:driving:

Yeah man i saw a blue 370Z that thing looks so sexy i couldn't stop looking at it, I almost rear ended someone hahahah lol. Hopefully a year or two from now i can convince my wife to trade in her mazda3 for a auto (she can't drive stick) 370z.

Scott@FontanaNissan 07-10-2009 12:39 PM

30psi with an FP Red...please tell me you have upgraded your internals...

or you will be doing it soon...and not by choice!

ill leave it for him to say.:driving:

Celinicus 07-10-2009 01:42 PM

I was torn between the two cars myself. I ultimately went with the Z because 1)I had a 350z as my previous car and loved it and 2) I was looking at the MR and as I understand it the transmission was not going to be able to handle much modding.

In the end I did get a 7AT Z (which can handle pretty much any bolt on gains). If I do go with a mild FI set up someday, I won't mind shelling out a little more for a VB job and/or tranny cooler.

Just my 2 cents on the matter.

Scott@FontanaNissan 07-10-2009 01:56 PM

This is true...the tranny on the MR is good for about 360tq and that's about it. There are several companies working on a fix for this...the main reason once it gets up to a certain temperature...LIMP MODE.

shabarivas 07-10-2009 04:34 PM

Xs are really fun - I had one... but it feels like the car is really driving itself - which it is. One thing i hated about them was the lack of response to the driver - you had no idea how much harder you could push it before it lost control... sadly this happened to me as I gave the car a little too much cred....

No need. My internals are good up to ~550awhp. Weak point for the 4G63 is the rod bolts at that point. Only thing I had to do to run 30psi was install ARP head studs.

ARPs are an easy and recommended upgrade for Evos running over 25psi on the stock turbo or running aftermarket turbos.

EDIT: Do want Robispec. Will be buying in about a year and a half. OMFG do want.

I planned on getting a Evo and researched the hell out of that car when it first reached the States. I will take a stock 370z over any stock Evo.

bellydancer4 07-11-2009 09:28 PM

I have an Evo( MR SE and a 370z

Brazilbro 07-11-2009 11:00 PM

I'm working on getting both too.. i traded in the evo 8, saving up now for a Evo 9 RS .
Its going to take turbos to kill the time of my old evo though.. bolt ons to bolt ons the Z cant compete

tpham 07-12-2009 01:42 AM

since you have all those stillen parts on your Z doesn't that void warrenty from the dealership??
