Since the Z is low volume, Nissan doesn't need it to get 35MPG to help out their CAFE numbers. If I look into my crystal ball, I see a 200lb reduction in weight, similiar horsepower, and 30MPG highway, but nothing radically different. The YEN is a problem today, but it better not be by 2015 or that means the US recovery is still stalled or reversed.

What about questions you couldn't foresee? For example, when I test drove the FRS, it idled low and would hit 500rpm and bounce back up. Salesman had no clue about whether that was normal or whether the car was broken.

Look, even if the salesman is clueless, he has to be willing to go ask someone about technical sh1t.

And a salesman who could tell me, without reservation, that some technical issue is either "par for the course" or "just an anomaly with this one car", is a real asset.

Just professionalism.

Otherwise, they are what they are, sleazy pricks in a suit just there to rip you off. And that's usually how I treat them, because that's what they deserve.

Again, I don't reasonably expect anything from them. I'm just saying that if they DID know wtf they were talking about, it would make them better salesmen. They should know the vehicles this well, but they don't.

And they don't even have to know about financing, because most dealerships have finance specialists there.

I've found that generally car salesmen are the least knowledgeable people about cars in the world.

This is almost exactly what I see. Approx. 3100lbs about 350hp coming from a 3.0FI, 22/30mpg and possibly a commercial friendly NA and/or an na hybrid option weighing about the same as our cars now... I would get the turbo of course. The turbo I see as an overpriced enthusiast option and the NA options ranging from proper pricing to seriously overpriced for the hybrid. The turbo possibly in limited numbers. (Nismo?)
The pricing may start $1000 below the 2014 Z. But watch rapetastic option pkgs swell pricing to ridiculous levels as always.

Wishful hoping is the next gen gets DCT. I hope they evolve the current bodystyle nicely?

Exactly what I was going to say the need Not to down size the z that's taking two steps back and demolishing tradition what the need to do is bring back the s chassis which everyone has been waiting for, for a very long time even before the concept s16 came out that's what they really need to do if they do go forward with down sizing the z, well then I'm glad I have my 09 and I'll probably keep it. The z34 will be the last of a very long running z car tradition

Best way to make it appeal to the masses:
4 cylinder
front wheel drive (thus less parasitic drivetrain loss, easier to control for most people)
4 seater
tall side windows for better visability
change the name to "toyota camry"
