My go with the Z ... bad-***.
Well, I drive a 06' Civic SI (With the K20Z3 Engine 197hp with I-vtec engaging at 5800 RPMS) EDITED VERSION
The Story: A friend and I went to Bozeman, which is about 75miles away, to get stuff for my photography business. I told her if theres a 370z, we have to make up something so we can test drive this car! So we were approaching the Nissan dealership and behind a truck I could see this sleek magnetic black touring coupe sitting there. I **** my pants and had to call the dealer, the girl I was with was excited as well, so dialing the car dealership we wanted to make something up so that they would allow us to drive this car seeing that we're younger. So I said that we were couples thinking about getting married, even though I'm not with the straight community, I decided to play it off so did she. The dealer gave us the OK to come down and take a look at it. The girl I was with told the dealer which was really a great dealership to begin with didn't even need to make an excuse, but she said her mom wanted to consider buying her a Z for her graduation present. So it was our turn to test drive it! Initial Reactions: Beautiful fender flares, larger than I thought I imagined the size of a lotus or something but then again the lotus has the 2zz_GE (Celica gt-s) Engine in it. So It was amazing seeing the size and how wide this car was! I looked inside and seen the navigation, and all the goodies you guys talk about! I then noticed it was the tiptronic aka automanual shift, which was a slight bummer (until I got to drive it). So I let her drive it first, and have her fun... She got back and it was my turn, I was nervously shaking that I get to drive my dream car, and finally even to sit in the Z is a dream come true. I sat down in the Z's cockpit which fit like a glove, I loved the dash and how everything was set up, I felt "One with the vehicle" so to say. I've been in friends cadillac 2006 cts-v and this interior is hands down WAY better. I proceeded out of the parking lot noticing what a ******* fantastic ride this car had (Drives better than my Civic, and Celica, and accords I've driven). I got out into a spot where I could hit 50 mph... I asked the lot boy who helped us take this magnificiant car for a spin if I could punch it, He said "Go ahead" so I was in first still after the stop light, and Holy **** this car has alot of power I wasn't expecting that much from this car, a smooth torque range throughout the whole RPM band, I was "Sold" on this car, even if it was the paddle shifters I still felt connected to this car! I then went to a straight away and wanted to tested, not from a stop didn't want the new owner of this car to be upset with the tires, so I was going about 20mph and zoomed up through 65mph or more, and wow.... I was speechless it sounded so ******* GOOD! I mean damn good. So the end of my journey was coming with the new 370z, I had to turn around on this 4 way road with no stop signs, and yet everyone watched me in the Z and let me go first and turn around in the middle of all four...except the man on the bicycle and then I turned around and made sure no one was behind me again and I noticed those wide fenders so SEXY, and I proceeded to go to the dealership again on the straight the bicylcist was in my way so I had to go in on coming traffic before this car got closer again, this car was absolutely amazing... Moral of the story: I really want a ******* 370z now :ughdance: For anyone wondering if it's ok to get the 7 AT I say do it its a blast and the black interior was great and being an average size kid I had more than enough head room to fit in this car. The Z rocks. The end I miss this car: Sorry for crappy cell phone camera picture: http://i362.photobucket.com/albums/o...0619091348.jpg |
Every time I read a story about a first time Z driver, it makes me wanna go take a spin. In fact...be back later...

Same here, one test drive and I was sold.:driving:

you guys have no speed limits out there in Montana?
|

:chuckles: |
They have them now. They were blackmailed by the federal government who refused to give them street money if they didn't impose speed limits.
|
Yes, the girl I was riding with has been pulled over after today 18 times woo hoo! But got out of all of them
I don't condone speeding but we have alot of nice straight open roads that are desolated! |
dude, no kidding!! i grew up in northern wyoming.. there is nothing up there. just rocks, grass, and wind.. more people die in a car from falling asleep while driving than they do from hitting other cars due to speeding.
|
Actually semi correct, hmmm
|
Damnit I wish I could drive it one more time that thing was beautiful great braking, great WOT nice torque throughout the gears!
|
Yea that it I can't wait any longer - I'm going out for a drive! There is nothing as sexy as looking at the side view mirror at that curvy a$$!
|
I had dreams about her all night *sigh*

WOW! First thought that came to mind was: "Ready for take-off, sir?"
|
Yea a 2006 CTS-v
|
So would you get the 7AT or the 6MT????
|
I mean as sick as the 7 AT was I still like feeling in total control so 6speed!
|
Yeah, the days when there was no speed limit in Montana were great. Troopers wouldn't even look at you unless you were doing better than 90mph. I'm taking my 370 up there in a couple weeks to see family. Gonna have fun driving through the canyon between Helena and Great Falls. Can't wait.
|
Yay Im in butte!
Except the day we test drove we got pulled over XD |

lol I'm guessing you got too used to Honda's because unlike the vtec, the VVEL doesn't kick in yo.
Look at torque curves and you'll notice the flatness throughout the entire rpm, that's VVEL my friend. You're lucky the owner of that Z isn't on this forum haha |
I too was dead-set on having the manual tranny, but since I got the car for under invoice...and the 7AT is a "manual when you want it to be" and will still chirp the tires from 1-3rd...lol...it works for me.
|
What do you mean? I still like the car I'm not saying that I was expectinve all its horsepower at 7800 rpm like my car to have it actually "GO"
I didn't hurt the car at all, it was a good drive for it. |
Wow - if I could just transfer that console to my 370Z.... I wouldn't. Looks like there may be some extra features that are nice but its too gaudy - too busy.... Part of it is glossy black other parts are flat black some is flat black but textured - its all over the place. It nice and rounded then they've got this brick that pops up for Nav. Lots too it but there is too much gloss - look out finger prints!
I agree 2theextreme - it looks like an aircraft cockpit. Simplify the whole thing with a touch screen interface. That would be slick. |
I really REALLY love the feel of the Z though.
It almost harnesses you like it knows your the driver which is weird to say, but its true I love the feel the seats were great, the controllers and layout were superb, I really want this car. and to see that the touring sport beat the nismo in everything by .1 second thats nuts seeing that it has 18+ more hp I wont be able to decide PG with Black or Pearl white with black I love there permission color but I know I'd get it dirty and freak! |
