Dreams crushed by boofsquire!
I thought I had it all planned out... I had thought all the planets had aligned... Had the money to put down on a 370, got approved for the lovely 1.99% from PenFed, and found my beautiful 40th edition with only 16k miles, but one question was yet to be answered.
How was I going to transport my surfboard and continue my other love of surfing? Luckily Boofsquire had my solution. So I drive home in my beautiful Z and hop online to first post the good news on the forum and then go to order my hatch rack system. When I get there I notice something I missed the last 6 times I visited the website, It was sold out. Being sold out isn't so bad and I'm patient enough to wait, then I see when the sold out message was posted... November of 2011 ! Still sold out after 8 months doesn't give me much hope Sigh. How long is your drive to your surf spot? Maybe not as solid as Boofsquire, but there are some soft surf racks that work just fine. So long as you're not planning on going 70+ for a long time.
Either that or time to go to a really short board! |

Sand, saltwater, smelly wetsuit & towels in the Z?
Do you have safe parking at the beach for your Z? Birdshit & door dings...yikes! Sorry about the Boofsquire. Maybe you can find a used one somewhere or make your own. |

Yes, but that is why they sell different vehicles for different jobs, hobbies or purpose.
That is why I have a truck and SUV. You will not catch me dead with a bicycle or surf board rack on my car. It will not see any wet towels, saltwater or wetsuit either. That is why they sell Jeeps, Trucks and SUVs for.

It's just a car, a $30K car. My wife's SUV cost way more than it, who cares.
The Z is a wonderful car at the track, I see very few owners using it like it should. Then why buy it? |

Hey hey... I do have a waterproof bag that i place my smelly wetsuit in for transport. My surfboard also has a bag its stored in. The boofsquire looked like it was a clean and secure way to transport stuff of this nature. I'm sure most people would find it incredible that I can even transport a surfboard. I wasn't going to let one hobby of mine get in the way of the car I really want.
By the way, I'm a mile and a half from my favorite surf spot. half a mile to the ocean so salt is always in the air regardless. Last edited by Garrett63; 07-09-2012 at 01:22 AM. |

Garrett63, Good for you! Keep on surfing dude & do it with the 370. 30+ years ago with my 280Z, surfed town (South Shore, 5 minutes away) & country (North Shore Oahu, 1 hour away). Had to use soft racks occasionally back then, depending on the size of the board. Offshore winds, no problem, on shore, gotta wash the car after.
Still surf occasionally and use the G37 Coupe. Now that I'm old, got a 7' 8" fun board that I can actually fit in the car. Takes some adjustments in the car, but it fits. Nothin more fun than to shred the road, then shred the surf, then shred the road back home!!! Enjoy my friend |

Garrett63:
(1) Check the "Parts for Sale (Private Classifieds)" section of this forum and see if anyone is selling theirs. I sold mine thru here. (2) Check Craigslist. I have seen some racks posted there. (3) Another option would be the SeaSucker system. I sold my Boofsquire rack to buy a SeaSucker Talon for my mountain bike. The main reason I sold my Boofsquire rack is I need a rack compatible with any vehicle. I did check SeaSucker's website and they do sell a surfboard rack. It is about the same price as the Boofsquire rack and will be compatible with any vehicle (a plus in case you need this option). Last edited by slumpey; 07-09-2012 at 03:18 PM. |

I thought I would post some pictures finally. It turns out Seasucker was definitely the best way to go! the racks go on soooo easy without the risk of scratching anything and super easy storage when not in use. This is a 9'6 board on top.
sure a lot of you call this blasphemy, but so is buying a Prius Attachment missing, next page peeps.
