Default Blind Spot Gripes...

It's funny when I test drove the 370 I thought wow....tougher blind spots than my 350...But now that I have been driving it for a week...I don't understand all the gripes on blindspots and the call for a rear camera.

I think it was just getting used to "trusting the mirrors". It's just adjusting to a new way of driving.

Overall...besides the driver seat "click" this has been a dream week and I can't wait to get some miles on her so i can really have some fun with that seat click!

I agree, they aren't that bad.

you know what I notice more than the blind spots? the giant side mirrors block my vision to the front-left or front-right. I almost hit a pedestrian (really it wasn't that close) but I did not even see her because my mirror blocked her from my view. I am getting ready to turn and this lady comes out of nowhere...well, she appeared from behind my ginormous side mirror so that is somewhere but those things do get in the way sometimes.

There are some huge blind spots with the 370z...and it's more than what the mirrors can cover. Try backing out your driveway...

For the most part I have mine set to where if I turn my head and look at the mirror, I can see the edge of my rear quarters over the rear wheels at the very edge of the mirror.

I can't adjust the passenger side as far out as I'd prefer (click-click-click)...so I have it at about the same spot - where the edge of the rear fender if in the mirror when I turn my head to look...

I still nearly merged into a car the other day getting on the highway, and I checked mirrors AND looked out the driver's side window.

They're pretty bad. Making left turns can be tricky at times.

Backing out of parking spaces can be tricky too.

What drives me nuts is the "not so functional" window since most of the time my friend's head worsens the blind spot.

The mirrors nor the "blind spots" seem that bad to me... Backing up is my only concern, but we knew that before we bought this purty ride. ;-)

The blind spots are pretty bad, but vision out of the rear window isn't nearly as bad as some have made it out to be.

While I love the car, I usually have to say a little prayer before backing out of a spot in a busy parking lot.

Here is an idea for the engineers to come up with. Blind spot cameras. Blind spot mirrors are unsightly and low rent. You could place a small large aperature camera in the corner of the mirrors that would be activated when you hit the turn signals. They could also work in tandem with the back up camera when the car is placed in reverse. You could have a 3 way split screen on the monitor.

If anyone steals this idea and makes millions with it please at least be like that guy in the movie "The Jerk" and give me half.

the blind spots are my biggest gripe. I'm nearly 6'5" and with the seat all the way back, I really can't look over my left shoulder. I have the mirrors set so that I can barely see the edges of the fender flares. I knew this when I bought the car, but it is taking some getting used to. Other than this, I LOVE this car.

since the mirrors are enormous, i adjust them to view just the edge of the body line, so i see everything beside me.

Make them sit forward/more upright.

That's what I did/do...

Whether the blind spots in the 370Z are any worse than the 350 or any other two-seat coup is debatable. Certainly, if you are driving a coupe with a back seat that gives you a longer roofline and generally, more side window area you blind spots will be reduced. Likewise, a four-door sedan with real side windows in the rear doors usually offers a good viewing area too.

However, no matter what you drive, changing lanes is always something or a risky move…even in a vehicle with good visibility and even if you really look and try to be safe, you can still get clobbered…I see it happen (or almost happen) all the time and I’m sure you do too.

Bottom line is, try not to change lanes any more than you REALLY have to and when you do change lanes, be as careful as you can and always, always , always try to be aware of who/what is around you. After doing all that, a little whispered prayer isn’t a bad idea!

backing out of my driveway, or out of a parking spot next to a truck are my main issues. While driving forward, it's not that bad.
