Thanks. Hoping to finally beat my stock time soon, but it won't happen if it's 100* everyday like it is now. The closest I got was within 0.03 s.

I have a 2009Sport/Touring AT..

My Z/28 only does low 13's at 105...

Personally I wouldn’t waste my time or money on gas with this effen race. You should just show up & let him take off & you just stroll through to the finish line slowly. Your friend is clearly an idiot here. He is not even comparing apples to apples here (a 60k car vs a 35k car….hmmmm). This guy needs to go race a 1M, M3, C63 AMG, & etc (new Mustang 5.0 & Camaro SS will give him a good run for his money). That is like us Z guys trying to race a Ford Fiesta.

How fast do you think a bone stock S5 runs?

It wouldn't even be a contest against a stock 5.0. Cost has nothing to do with what's an "apple" in this situtation.

if you practice your launch enough you have a good chance to keep up with him. I have a couple buddies with Audi's the one being an s5 the other a3 s-line but both audis are MT and we find the Z is equally as quick to s5 and quicker then the a3(just wait till I am in the FI club those turbos audi puts in are tiny then I will crush them both

)........but again as mentioned you are up against a AT which will have smother launch, but IMO is kinda boring all they have to do if mash the gas pedal down and it will go no skill with clutch work!

At least you can tell him you have a drivers car (being MT) and didn't sell out for a AT (this just makes it easier to let women drive it

)

I test drove the 2011 S5 it had a V-8 though. That car could crush anyone. Audi does a awesome job with speed, power, feel and interior comfort. I just couldn't justify the price even on a used one. And I love Z's...it's all in the details. Any rich guy can have a nice ride. Only a few understand the beauty of the Z.
