This dood 5 houses down has an s5. Every time we drive by we stare each other down. i cant wait to get my f.i exhaust and let him know how it sounds. my cousin has an a5 real nice car but it needs a lil more power i bet the s5 is great to drive.

oh, i was lookign at their current models.

brucelidat 07-05-2012 11:33 PM

same engine as the s4, how does the s4 stack up with the Z? could give a gauge, though I wouldn't expect our 35k Z to beat a 60k car in a straight line

2013 Audi S5 3.0T
PERFORMANCE (C/D EST)
Zero to 60 mph: 4.7–4.9 sec
Standing ¼-mile: 13.2–13.3 sec
Top speed (governor limited): 155 mph
Curb Weight 3900-4000lbs

These stats are telling me that they're neck and neck. The Z has power to weight advantage while the Audi has the AWD. Their is no "dude he's going to blow the doors off of you!" with equal drivers at both wheels (be it average or professional) it's all up to the driver IMHO.

brucelidat 07-06-2012 12:17 AM

those numbers seem weak for a 60k car, haha. the auto might be the difference maker like others have said.

Nismodean 07-06-2012 04:48 AM

It's four THOUSAND POUNDS. With horsepower equal to ours (flywheel is 333hp) and with even further parasitic drivetrain loss due to AWD, these numbers don't suprise me at all.

The Audi though.. is a wannabe's ride in general. A 60k car owner challenging a 35k car owner is pu$$y. In the general law of things, the Z should be bringing challenges to the higher up as us being the underdog. I'm pretty sure audi isn't going to 911 guy and asking for a race cuz b1tches always want to race sure things. But in all due honesty. The Z is NOT a sure thing to beat on that audi.
It is a drivers race. But he shouldn't even be worthy of your rubber. Not cuz racing is dumb or unnecessary. But because he's a germaphile douche expecting a sure thing. That's why I say... don't race him unless you are sure you can dust him.
Being sure doesn't mean you need more power. Though it would help. It means you need to race him on your terms in your grounds. A road course you are confident in, make sure you can shift perfectly, and just be ready NOT to lose. There's a lot of cars you can lose to on a track with respect. But. No germaphile deserves victory on a track. Those fools are looking for the easy way out on a purchase. And they see you as inferior.
Truth is... german cars have a lot of track weaknesses that can be easily exposed on a roadcourse if you are the proper opponent. You can give it to him with no gel. But u gotta be ready to take this germaclown seriously and hurt him on the track. Do him in IF u gonna race him, bruh.

Agreed!

IF thats the case, this could be a drivers race! Again, remember he spent twice a much so even if you two have a close race, thats worth it. I'd laugh till I pissed on his car if you win though. :hello:

seems like in all the german cars, for the price tag, you get the least get up n go with the audi brand, more than bmw or benz. my wife wanted an audi, but the depreciation sucks, and i cant see paying twice as much for equal power.

Well not long ago, some guy with a B8S4 tried to keep up with me on a twisty back road in MD and ended up in a ditch in my rear view mirror, with his wife bitching at him. That's a lot of mass to move around (inertia), and make stop too. Plus being AWD the driver tend to be a weeee bit over confident. Straight line I think its a wash and driver skill, on a twisty road...you should slaughter him.

Cmike2780 07-06-2012 08:59 AM

Sleep with his wife/girlfriend...that'l teach him.

:iagree:

Some people hear $60k and german make and assume there's no chance for the poor lil jdm. I call bullsh1t. The performance on these cars are equal and it boils down to driver skill. On a road coarse, Z still wins for agility and no doodads helping out a good driver vs doodads making AWD germaphile feel overconfident. Like I said before. Road course, hard and aggressive and throw em in a ditch.:happydance:
