Too bad. Day to day, this is the most useful info I get from that gauge.

OPINION: I would think them to be highly reliable, and very rare to replace.

have same issue, haven't researched for fix or anything like that. but, compared to my 05 G35, my 09 Z does take a long time to display an accurate reading.

I just noticed the same problem on my 2011 yesterday. Prior to this most recent hot weather the temperature reading has always been pretty accurate and quick to respond to temp changes.

how long does it take?

when my car has been sitting in the sun, the temp will usually read a few degrees higher than what it actually is, but it will go down once I start moving.

I leave it on that pretty much at all times. I never care about "miles left", because the gas light will come on when it's time to refuel. And I only care about mpg when I'm on long road trips or the once in a blue moon when I want to see it.

yep, ambient temp is always showing on my obc too.

it's fairly quick to respond. inside my garage was 80F the other day with ambient temp outside at 74F. took the car 2-3min and about 1/2+ a mile of driving to get there. the car seems to respond faster to cold temps. like going from 50F inside my garage to 35F outside. for that i drive around the block and temps responds within 1/4 a mile.

it could be that the plastics and metals around the thermocouple is heated and takes more time to cool.

Yeah they do respond better in cooler weather and are more accurate, I think that the heat from the concrete adds a couple degrees to them to when its hot.

Only problems I have heard of is people running the oil cooler and lines too close to the sensor (same region) and getting incorrect readings.

I noticed today (rain moved through and he temp dropped from 90 to 72) and the temp reading responded fairly quickly. Within about a mile. Earlier in the day when the ambient temp was 92 and temp in my garage was around 86 the indicator took almost five miles to respond to the 90 degree temp.

About a week ago I drove from 80* to 72* to 105*, and when I got out of the car an hour later, it was a perfect 68*. This was the greatest fluctuation I've seen and all accurate (close enough for jazz), according to weather channel that night.
