Default this is why i hate nissan as a company

before I start, let me just say I love my car and I have had many Nissan's. while I love their cars, their dealerships and customer service are just pain in the *** to deal with. whenever you have problems with the vehicle, they do their best to run away from the problems instead of trying to fix them. I guess this is what we get for buying a car for 30k.

ranting on a cell phone sry, I will list more specifics when I get a keyboard

I don't think this is specific to just Nissan. I've known Mazda dealers, GM dealers, and a few others to act like this.

I've also known dealers that are wonderful to deal with. When you take away the brand of make from dealerships, you realize that they are individual businesses, run very differently. They are in it to move vehicles, service vehicles, and move parts. How they make their profits from that ranges in a variety of practices, some above board, some very shady.

I agree, dealing with an ahole dealership is not a pleasant experience.

Well nowdays cars of $30K doesn't mean much, compare with some others.

It also depends of the dealer, no matter the type of car.

I tend to agree-most dealerships do not care after the sale is complete. The one exception I have to note is Beechmont Chevrolet in Cinci (used to be Isuzu). They went way above and beyond for me once-brought a flatbed truck to pick up my SUV when Isuzu refused to honor roadside assistance...on the whole-dealerships suck-Ford is especially bad! Hence I drive a Nissan and a Honda.
and I'm sorry you are having to deal with it-
Headed back to dealership this weekend for initial oil change-I'll let you know how it goes...not expecting a lot but you never know.

yup, 69k miles, broke two sets of hatch struts and that's it. I don't like Toyota cars much, but they are definitely more dependable.

I have 18k on the car. here are the issues.

#1. rear hatch not popping easily. had that problem since new, fixed at 12k on first try

#2 inaccurate fuel gauge. had that problem since new. refused to fix at 12 and now 18k

#3 broke baffle inside fuel tank. fixed at 12k on first try, took about a week. they were so cheap that they didn't align the car after. I ended up paying out of pocket to fix it myself rather than to beg them to fix it because I know they will tell me it is normal for cars to track sideways.

#4 tpms flash in and out at 17k, reported problem at 18k, but they claim it is caused by my trailer hitch and the light disappeared and car appears to be fine.

got more issues to list, too hard to type on phone. more to come later

The first one is FREE! or I would be doing it locally-as soon as the garage and lift are in guess who is doing them?! Yes-the hubby!

It's the individual dealerships. They'll screw you over just as bad if you're driving a BMW, Lexus, Toyota, GM...whatever. The ones working at the luxury brands are just better at hiding it. I've heard stories of relative being charged over $600 to have her Lexus LS460 in for an oil change and 'maintenance.' My aunt knows nothing about cars and just payed it. I can imagine this happens a lot.

In your situtation, I would contact Nissan directly to get it resolved. I actually had/have similar issues as you. The TPMS thing is easy enough to solve. I had them reset the sensors. The next time it malfunctions, they can see which wheel it was. Ask them to scan in and get a print out. If the light ever came on, it will say something like it wasn't detected, etc. You have to be as much of a d*ck as they are to get anything done, so don't be afraid to complain...and complain....and complain. Talk to the manager if you have to. Also, be sure to fill out that survey Nissan mails you after having warranty done. Sometimes a rep will actually call me about my experience. They take that stuff pretty seriously and not enough people actually do it.

The fuel guage issue is not actually the fuel guage issue. It's the fuel senders that need to be replaced.

For the most part though, I tend to think of these things as pretty minor, but annoying.
*knock on wood.

Make sure you know what kind they are putting in. Should be Mobile 1 Synthetic or the Nissan Ester if you're going to the dealership.
