Default Oil temperature gauge problem...

ok..I ran over the cheap *** plastic rim cover(one that u attach..) that was trashed in middle of road. It might be just me tripping, but I noticed that gauge starts from way bottom which is 140. and it barely moves up. it eventually shows the temperature after 15mins of driving but needle moves very slowly. and I even think that gas is draining too. is there any chance to part of broken plastic rim( one that u just attach) hit any part of underneath of my car and cause these problems? please help guys.

Oil takes a lot longer to heat than the engine coolant. Mine takes about 10 minutes before the oil temp gauge begins to move.
