I know I sound like a Monday morning quarterback, but had you stayed in your lane, the impact could have been a lot less than hitting another car head on at 50 mph (100mph impact vs 50 mph impact). You're lucky he/she admitted fault because they could have easily claimed you lost control of your car and headed towards oncomming traffic.

Glad you're okay :tiphat:

Not to sound like a know it all or anything but fun fact: two cars in a head on collision both going 50mph does not result in a 100mph crash. Learned that from Mythbusters! With variations to velocity and mass of each car, the end result is that the two vehicle's momentum will cancel each other out. :stirthepot:

Glad the OP got away with only minor injuries.

Hmmm interesting. What are the odds that they have the same mass and velocity to cancel each other out though.

Still no word on if it's totaled or not?

I had a similar accident in my 350z in 2010. I was only doing about 35 though so the damage wasn't as bad. The car was about $1000 short of being totaled. I actually made about $3k on it for lost use along with the repair so it wasn't all bad. I still ended up getting more than KBB top trade value for it on the 370z when I traded it in this year.

Yeah got word from the insurance co yesterday that it is indeed totaled. I ended up coming out ok. They are giving me 1k over my loan payoff amount. The offer was within $500 of what I paid for the car, before trade in and online discount. I guess it couldn't have lost too much value in the 3 short months I had it. Right at 28k for a 2009 base I think is fair. Now, just to wait for the pain and suffering, which won't be determined until I'm finished with all of my PT.
