I thought about that, but considering they just refreshed it for 2013, I'll probably have to wait at least 4 years for the next iteration of the Z.

Glad to hear your ok but I have to laugh at the people saying the car is not that bad. Looks totaled to me, and who knows how damaged the engine is. Whats your plan if she is a write off? Another Z or something else?

The car is totaled, the meaning of my comment was that with a force of 50mph from both cars, the damages arnt as bad as you would expect. Op is lucky that the hood didnt bend anymore and go through the windshield on impact. Looks like the fender on the driver side is ok too. Yeah the whole front end is smashed, but thats nothing taking in how fast each car was traveling.

Did you have gap insurance? Might be a good thing in this case since the car was brandy new. Any idea if you owe more than the value?

I'm thinking there is a chance it's not totaled. Car has to be valued at least in the high 20s. Even if the block is cracked you are probably looking at 15-20k to repair max IMO.

Let us know how it turns out. You're pretty lucky.

Just to reiterate, 50mph is best guess. I swerved, and was applying the brake at the same time, I realized that may not have been made clear before. I had maybe a second on the brake, before the front of his car, hit the passenger rear of my car and sent me out of the "yellow line median" into incoming traffic. After I eat dinner, I'll draw a simple, and I mean simple .jpg to show more detail. Not trying to draw this thread out, but you all are really helping to keep my spirits up right now. I appreciate all of the kind words, as I am a newb to the forum

Yes I have Gap Insurance, and yes I owe more than it is worth. This is something that worries me, but I guess that's what it's for right? Also the fact that it's an '09...

Yeah i know i was just going off your guess about your speed and the jetta's speed. Nonetheless the car did its job. It just goes to show you how well the Z was built for safety, being a little sports car and all. Like you said man, just keep your spirits up. I may not have as many posts as 90% of the guys on here but we are all in the Z family. Trying to help out our fellow Z enthusiats is the least we can do. Im sure by posting up your accident, it has helped you get through things to a certain extent. We are here bro, just post and you shall recieve

:iagree: about the car doing it's job, it did keep me safe. I added another picture that shows the Jetta on the original post, I thought I added this last night but I missed it. I also just noticed that both of my side mirrors, were flipped backwards, because of the impact I guess...

Absolutely... otherwise you would get FMV and still be responsible for the rest of the amount due to the bank...

I didn't get it on my 370z because I am outpacing the devaluation, but I've purchased it on two other cars that were either brand new or almost brand new... that is when they decline much quicker.

I didn't see that it was an 09 though... not sure what they consider fair market but you might end up with a wash on this one.

Either way at least you won't owe money on it.

I think its 50% percent of fmv is a loss they total it. It's definitely totalled after engine and all body work this thing is totalled. If they try to fix it and it keeps having to go in for repairs the insurance company would have a huge headache on their hands. Totalled
