MPG Disappointment

If you need to worry about mpg. you shouldn't have bought the car in the first place. that's like xitching about insurance cost

Why is there so much whining on this (sports car forum) about MPG?
Go buy a Prius!

Prius owners complain about their mpg too, you can't win. Same with HP, money and everything else.

I get 14-16 at best, all city driving though. Thankfully my work is 5 miles away or else i would be looking at alot of more dough in gas with gas prices almost 5 bucks around here. So far i only have 1600 miles on the car.. hopefully my mpg gets a little better. I dont care too much about mpg but that stupid gauge led on your left is like right in your face.

Couple points. The new Boxster is incredible piece of engineering. It's very balanced car, quality of parts are much higher, much more efficient motor and drive train with incredible dual clutch PDK tranny. It's a true sports car enthusiasts vehicle. Well designed convertible top as well. Yes it's 2.7 liter motor delivers better MPG but has less torque than the Z.

....Mileage. While I'm sure on highway the 2.7 boxster gets close to 30 mpg I suspect real world is less.

My Nismo will bang out 26 mpg all day long on highway if I keep my foot out of it.

Let's say a gallon of gas costs $4. 370Z, $4 X 500 = $2,000 a year. Boxster, $4 X 400 = $1,600 a year. In a Boxster, you save $400 a year in fuel.

To make up the $20,000 purchase price difference.......it would take 50 years in simple math!!!

But being that we're not simple people, let's take that $20,000 that was saved due to buying the 370Z and we put it in an investment that earns 4% interest. We would make $800 annually. Not sure about the gas mileage.....but the Greenbacks mileage sure goes a longer way with the Z!!!

Plus the Boxster spanking the Z in just about every way hmmm?
it is not "math". it is maths short for mathematics not mathematic.

Truth spoken although not at all related to the topic. Just so no one discredits you, I've quoted some parts from the daily writing tips website.

Quote:
Is “math” or “maths” the correct word to use as the shortened or colloquial form of the word mathematics? The answer is that it depends on where you are.
To North American speakers of English, the word to use is “math”, as in “I majored in math”, and “maths” would sound wrong. Speakers of British English, however, would always say “maths”, as in “I took a degree in maths”. They would never say “math”.
There are logical arguments for both spellings. The word “mathematics” can be considered as a singular and as a plural noun. Both the Oxford and the Merriam-Webster dictionaries say the word is plural – hence the s on the end – but also that it is usually used as if it was a singular noun. So, most people would say “mathematics is my best subject” and not “mathematics are my best subject”. The shortened form “maths”, then, makes sense because the word is still a plural noun and so should still have the “s” on the end. On the other hand, it could be argued, “math” makes sense because it seems wrong to remove the letters “ematic” from the middle of the word and leave the final “s”.

Hey nicknick, you sound like my English teacher from high school. I'm no English major, but I can tell you this......in your country the water spins the wrong way when going down the toilet!!!

Vbp6US, I'm impressed!

In Germany mostly men driving the Boxster or couples. Its very expensive here. Its a laser mid engine design that Porsche, along with the Cayman has to be very careful with.

Its potential exceeds the 911 and the drivers here in the Porsche driving school love both more than the 911's as they handle much more precisely.

I also want to add that if you follow Porsche closely you know their engineering is very very good. Hence the cost.

My Z overall gets good mileage when I check it. We all know its just the right foot governor that matters.!!!

No matter who is driving it, life is not too bad in the Cayman/Boxster environment. I give it great respect no matter the cost. It works well.
