Does the VIN indicate whether a car has the sports package?

Does the VIN number indicate the presence or absence of the sport package? If so, how can I tell from the VIN if a car has the sports package?

i think it only shows the build date, model, transmission type and colours.

it might show it as the sports model

No...... You need to look at the car to determine if the Sport package is on it (visual cues are: Spoiler, brakes & wheels)

For the touring, the only way I can tell is to look for leather interior. Maybe the aluminum pedals?

Mine's both sport and touring, so no matta!

look at the radio for touring or not

look at the rear view mirror, if it has the garage opener button, it's a touring

You can tell Base v. Touring from the exterior by looking for the little bulge on the roof right before the back window. That is the sat radio, gps, etc. equipment I believe.

I'm looking at adds on the internet for cars that have the "stock photo" and a VIN number. I'm trying to reduce the number of annoying phone calls.

The thing I attempted to do with that was go through the features and if they do not list 19" wheels then I usually assumed it was without sport package.
I went and emailed many dealers and asked if they had any with at least X options (Sport package, manual, couple color options, miles). I usually got a reply within a few days.

If you have the Zip code of the seller, just go to the Nissan site and search dealers within "X" radius of the Zip code. Dealer inventory will come up and you can see the exact factory and optional equipment on the car as well as MSRP..
