Remote start

I'm thinking about it. My stepson works for Toyota, he is going to talk to a buddy at Nissan about it. Then we'll see.

Anyone has had any kind of remote start system successfully installed on their M/T 370 yet? I'd be interested to hear about how well it's working, what brand was used, if there were any shortcomings, the cost of the system/installation, etc...

Cheers

I doubt anyone has installed it at all, much less on an M/T. These cars are so computerized that I think any kind of bypass on the clutch safety is going to be very difficult.

I wonder why the Japan market's Fairlady Z gets so many more goodies than we in the American market do...

i really want this as well but something has me puzzled. This key fob isn't the same foot print as the they key fob that came with the car. I guess what I am getting at is what do if we get this and the batter runs out? We can't stick it in the key port because it obviously wont fit....

So i guess my questions is, is this a replacement key fob or is this another key fob we would have to carry in addition to the one that we already have....

Edit:

Found the answer to my own question

What I am hoping is that you can open the trunk with the Z running versus the current situation.

This is the one I want to purchase too.

I hate having crap in my pockets so this new automatically makes this a no go for me. Sucks too I really wanted a factory remote start.

That looks pretty slick. I would guess it is a royal PITA to try and install though.

See the reply I got below...not very promising. Anyone interested in being the first guinea pig?

"Dear Sir/ Madam

Thank you so much for your e-mail. My name is Tsuyoshi from Japanparts.com. About 415-014-020-1, it is for A/T, so this is okay for the transmission type. However, all of our parts are basically for JDM, so I can not guarantee that this will fit to USDM.

Also, the installation directions in English are not available and not able to check the signals, so I can not tell that this sound is same as the US signals.

I am sorry for the inconvenience.
