HELP Need Advice Selling My Car
I am in the process of selling my black on black Infiniti g35 w/ 41k miles but I have not been getting ANY interest or offers from anyone. It has been for sale for about 2 weeks. My car is listed well below KBB value. I listed the car at 18800 and I stated that the price is negotiable. My car is listed on g35driver, Craigslist, and Autotrader. The only reasons I can think of is because the car is modded and automatic. The people who want manual do not mind mods (younger age) but the people who want automatic want stock (older age). So what do you guys think I should do? Return to stock? Only major modification is aftermarket 20" wheels. Out of all honesty, I do not want to go thru the hassle of buying and selling wheels, but I may have no choice. I need all the advice I can get. I want this gone within 3 weeks or so as I am interested in buying a 370z. Here is the link of my car on g35driver:

IMO, return it to stock. I am just beginning my shopping for a used 370Z, and am only looking at used. If it has mods on it, even if just A/M rims, I don't give it a second look.

soooo all you've really done to it is change the wheels? I really dont think that would be a deal breaker imo, I'd give it some time before you invest money just to try and sell it, but either way good luck!

carmax?

Carmax will not take modded cars......they run away from them.

Most G's are automatic, so I don't see that being the biggest problem. I wouldn't call your asking price well below, it is a little below good condition which is really the best a 6+ year old car with 41k miles can be. Remember that KBB is just a guide, not what you should get for your car.
Anything in a carfax that might scare people away? I say swap the rims. They aren't my taste and I wouldn't give your car a 2nd look in an ad if I saw them. |

Car forums are useless, most people already have one or just trolls.
You want 19K, which is TOP retail dollars. Car is worth closer to 14K-17K. My bank would give you 16500 as a loan at the most for that car. |
Go back to stock... mods only decrease the value of a car realistically and remove lots of potential buyers. I won't even consider a car with mods... heck window tint even has me thinking.

I have to agree with everyone, go back to stock. People don't like buying other peoples memories/ideas. It's like selling a house. Take all personal pictures etc. out of the house people don't want to buy your memories they want to create their own.

carmax decides if they want to sell on their lot or send it off to used car auctions. they dont care if the car is modded or not. |

I sold my 06 G35 6mt coupe with premium and sport packages. I had the 19" rays which are pretty desirable and if you can get a set I would recommend putting them on. It had 43k miles and I sold it for 16,500. I didn't have a lot of offers and I probably could have gotten 17k at most for them. I feel the kbb is too high and the actual market value is much lower. Try listing it at a little under 18k and see what happens

I went through a similar situation when I was selling my 370Z. I ended up putting my car back to stock which lucky for me was only the exhaust/wheels. I ended up getting a trade-in for what I was selling it for however, if you are looking to sell you will have far better luck selling a stock car.
On the plus side, you can make up some money by parting out the mods. Good luck! |
See if a dealer is interested in a trade-in. I'm thinking $16k is more what someone would be willing to pay. List it at $17,999 and see if that helps at all.
Also have more patience. 2 weeks isn't very long - but when you're itching to get behind a new wheel it can feel like eternity. |
