not to change the topic and in response to op
i can't begin to guess what you were expecting when you got the 370....
as for as how fast the car feels when you are driving it. either in a strait line
or a track. i think most on here imho believe the 370 is plenty fast enough for
most occasions. either on or off the street.

but it seems it always comes back around to comparing it with bigger v8's or cars that cost 20 to 30 grand more. sorta like comparing two chicks one with a boob job one without, that just ain't fair.........................

apples to apples 370 wins 7 out of 10 times imho.

sorry to ramble on

Should've gone turbo if you wanted that thrust, push you into your seat, feeling.

I think it takes a lot more HP for a car to gives you that "pulling back" effect on your body. At least a car that have a turbo.

For reference, my Mazdaspeed3 had that effect of pushing the driver into their seat when it accelerates, but my 370z would still go right past my mazdaspeed3.

Come take a ride with me

She sometimes gives me more than I ask of her especially from a rolling start to dip over into the next lane and get around

Im very happy with the Z, but there are still things on the base model that are suspect. oversteer/undesteer,weak brakes for this engine, clunky shifting, horrible sound system, horrible gas mileage, horrible visibility, oil gets hot as hell even with 2012 oil cooler.

On top of all that though, its still 3.7 business and a good driver can do damage.
Im leasing the thing so i cant do what i want to it...

I know these are not a straight line speed kind of car, but I am still expecting some put you in the back of the seat feeling. Anyone else feel this way?
I am somewhat disappointed as well. While I do agree that the linear powerband masks some of the 370Z's quickness, I feel that the 370Z is gutless below 4K RPM. This makes the car frustrating to drive sometimes. Perhaps it's just a shortcoming of the 6spd manual...I've never driven the AUTO. The gas pedal/throttle delay also frustrates me. Sometimes this car is just not as fun as it looks.

Even though I might get flamed...perhaps it's time for Nissan to put a small V8 in the Z. .

I see that you just got your Z. I felt that way in the beginning disappointed in all after coming from a BMW. I was saying to myself I think I made the mistake.
But wait... while I drive the car more often...mile after mile plus a modification of the intake and the exhaust. Wow this Z has transformed to a beast and still getting faster and faster as miles racks ups the odometer.
Give it it some time and you will know her better.
I will never look back... rather look forward in having his double T.
someday or get his big brother with the G and The R .

No 8...but you need more seat time. If your 240 had a DE-T swap I can see you being disappointed in a lack of 'whoa!'. If its the stock KA, um...what you smoking over there?

Perspective is key here. As a car guy we have several different ones in the family here, all with different power bands. The Z has better torque then the G35 sedan that was recently replaced by a 2.7L Cayman.

Cayman feels relatively strong due to the fact the car weights 600 lbs less then our Z, but peters out a tad above 6500.

The old beater is a modified 2.0T WRX. Below 2000 RPM, that is a gutless car...the Z feels like a small block chevy in comparison

The Z is sneaky fast as others have said. Just took some getting used to. I feel the 0-5K band is the strong point on the car.
