^ i was looking at a 335i for a while a bit expensive but also if your going to tune it it will void the warranty. They datalog a lot of variables including what PSI the turbos have been running. It most likely won't be a problem unless you actually break something and ask them to cover it under warranty. I was talking to they salesman and he said even a CBE will void the warranty since it alters the airflow of the car dramatically. I thought that was ridiculous. The dealerships I've dealt with don't care about CBE.

back on topic - yeah we need more torque and if bolt-on's aren't enough go for a 100 shot of NOS! =)

The straight line performance is aight but going around corners is where its at.

I agree with the "watch the needle" comment. Sometimes ill just be running through the gears and you look down and your like "wtf..130?". The stability is also very impressive. I have flown past 150 and the car felt as solid and controllable as it does at 60.

The acceleration didn't blow me away, but I'm fully impressed with what it can do. Everyone who rides with me says its fast, and i get comments like "snaps your head back in every gear", ect. But that is usually from people who have never really been in any kind of sports car and are super exited to be riding in it.

Also, random note, the Z's engine is rough...but sometimes at high speed i downshift and hold a steady 6500rpms...at that point it tends to be very smooth, almost no shifter vibration...lol.

see if this link works...
http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=...type=2&theater
seems fast to me!

Did you test drive the car much before you bought it? It's pretty easy to test 0-60 type acceleration.

I think the best way to appreciate the speed of the car is to take some curvy roads and keep the rpm's above 4.5k by doing appropriate shifting. Pulling out of the turn is so satisfying and it definitely throws you back in the seat. Our engines rev to 7500 rpm too, which is one thing to keep in mind. If you are used to shifting at 6k or 6.5k, you'll be wasting a lot of the best part of the engine's range.

Might just be that you are used to more powerful cars though. Or stuff like the lower wind noise and stability at higher speeds due to zero lift that throws off perception of speed. 80 in this car feels as smooth as 50 in my old camry.

I was initially considering a 335i but bought the Z instead. I just couldn't get over the fact that the 3-series is a girls car, and well, what does that make the 1 series?

Truly though, I was in love with the 1 series M when I first saw it. And that acid orange color... I just really liked it. But I recently saw one in town, same color and all, and I really wasn't impressed. It just looked squished.

My friend's e92 M3, now that's a car I'd take over the Z. Exhaust on that beast sounds like a symphony of sex.

I know these are not a straight line speed kind of car, but I am still expecting some put you in the back of the seat feeling. Anyone else feel this way?
I know what you mean about the 370Z not having that feeling of "put you in the back of the seat feeling." I owned a 2012 MazdaSpeed3 and that car DID have that "put you in the back of the seat feeling" specifically when the turbo kicked in. But I traded the MS3 in after just 3 months for the 370Z which IMO offers a lot more than just a "put you in the back of the seat" kind of feeling. First of all, the Z just looks like its going 100 mph standing still. The MS3 looked like it's....well....just parked. I can feel the strength of the Z's 332 horses just by the feel and sound of it. There's no better feeling than going through the gears in a 370Z. Yes the MS3 had lots of torque but it was all in the front end. It was almost uncontrollable at times. The Z is a more predicatable but a no less exciting sports car. The precise handling in the Z can only be matched by sports cars more than twice the price which is another plus regarding the Z..it's cost. You can't get a more sports car feel for around 30K like you can in the Z. I often said that the MS3 was "stupid fast" while the 370Z is a much more "refined fast"....and much more thrilling to drive. On the highway the other day, I was doing about 70 and decided to punch it a little to catch a GT-R that had passed me. I quickly looked down at my speedometer and found myself doing 100. The Z is an sports car icon. It's fast, refined, and looks like it belongs on a track. That's not only good enough for me, it's the most beautiful, sexy, and thrilling car I've ever owned.

It's fast from 0-120 after that it's like pushing a brick. Since the power delivery is linear it doesn't throw you back in the seat, like many have said just check out the speedo it's fast.

The car is fast, just the lack of torque doesn't give you that "neck breaking" feel, but the car picks up and is no slouch at all. Like everyone else has said, floor it and watch the speedo climb pretty quick. My brothers V10 M5 that has 507HP also does not give you that neck breaking feel because again a lack of torque only producing 380lbft of torque, but you just know your accelerating very quickly. Turbo is the new thing these days, all manufacturers are dropping them in almost every new car and that's where you'll actually feel great power because the great amount of torque.

The low end RPM power of this car is lacking if we are all being honest. Some times I feel like, at low RPM's, a cheap 4 door sedan has more torque lol.

But as others have said, once you get into the mid/high RPM's this thing rips. The real problem I have with the car is throttle lag, bleh.

From what I understand, a tune can help with throttle lag. But I don't know for sure.

Get an exhaust! Not only will you get a nice little bump in power, but the noise will make it seem like you're going 2x faster!!!

Just have to rev it. The Z would feel like a torque-monster compared to my S2000.

And no, even at high RPM it does not feel fast. Not even when VTEC kicks in (yo).

I've learned how to drive my Z to give more throwback in the seat. But for a cleaner acceleration experience you need better throttle response. You can get that by modifying the intake. I chose the silicone/filter mod so I don't lose low end torque. It works like a charm. Throttle response is much improved and I get into the 80's extremly quickly. I can run with the big boys up to around 100mph. Sadly not enough torque after that to keep up with the V8's. But at least in earlier stages it can at least hang with SOME of those bad boys.
