Yep, Thinkin' 'Bout Tradin' In On A 2013 Midnight Blue
........ Yep.
Atlanta Traffic Sucks. I'm old. My knees hurt from standing 12 hours a day anyway and a clutch isn't helping when stuck in traffic. Soooooo, I've been thinking about an automatic/paddle shift with the Touring Package so I can have all the cool electronic stuff that I like. Dark blue on cars is also my favorite color. Yet, I'm torn.... |

At this point it becomes...
Do you own the car? If not how much do you owe? Would you be upside down on a trade? If so, how much? Make the smart financial edition financial decision... but if the current car is causing extreme discomfort and you can comfortably make the car payment, I say go for it. I test drove the 6 speed and the 7AT, I bought the 7AT. P.S. Im having a tough time not upgrading to that color as well..... My favorite color is a navy shade of blue. |

The midnight blue looks awesome IMO. And the 7AT would be a lifesaver in ATL traffic...but of course, it is rarely a good deal to trade, and the BC is also a fantastic color.

Yeah the 7AT is great for traffic. Also that midnight blue will look amazing!

The good news is you are still thinking Z. If I had to drive in traffic like that every day yeah, I would want an auto too. I am fortunate that my job allows me to flex time so when I had to commute I would go in at 7:30 or earlier, leave at 4. I have not had to have an auto for the past 20 years in NE traffic.
The bad news is...I feel sports cars are meant to row. Any way you can just use a little beater civic or such to commute, and keep the Z as is? The loss in depreciation for a trade could buy you a great beater. Heck, with good weather down there I'd probably find a NB miata auto to commute in - b |

The 7a will blow your mind when you use the paddles. You will appreciate, faster shifts, better torque feel and downshift rev-matching when applying high performance tactics. This is one auto you can drive with pride due to its capability. It makes you see the "SPORTS CARS" have an amazing alternate future. Good luck.
May I. Advise k&n filters, silicone hoses and stillen ground wire kit, just to improve transmission and throttle response. Midpipe resonators not needed. Also improves throttle. Car is stil quiet at idle, but louder on cold start and quick revving. It really wakes up. Makes it feel more like the sports car it should be. Last edited by UNKNOWN_370; 06-16-2012 at 01:34 PM. |

Regarding transmission, wonder if there will be some tweaks on the 2013 to improve it? Getting the 6mt with my 2013Z, so getting the best of both worlds regarding trans. |

As far as being upside-down on payments, I think I should actually be about 10k ahead of the game. Plus I have some cash to throw down so the payments shouldn't be a real big issue. Shifting isn't causing any extreme discomfort, but it isn't really helping either. Of course, I'm 47 and already taking Cosamin on a regular basis. Had knee surgery years ago and work automotive retail for 10-12 hours a day standing. I was thinking about getting another beater car as a daily driver but then my narcissistic side came out and said: "If I drive a beater, people 90% of the time won't see me in a kick-*** Z. #### that." Then there's the killer Midnight Blue aspect...... |
