Default Nissan Ester Oil Mileage Imrovement...

So, I had my oil changed at the dealer with the Nissan Ester Oil at about 3,000 miles. I now have 5,500 miles and have noticed an improvement in my gas mileage. I know Nissan put out a statement saying that using this should improve your mileage. Since I put this in, on 95% highway cruises of 200 miles, my mileage has jumped from about 26 to about 27.6 to 28.2 mpgs. Now, of course I can't prove that it was the oil, but this is surely some good mileage that I am totally happy with. This is with the A/C on as well. I know there are many different factors that can change this factor, but the temperature has been near 80 degrees and the winds have been relatively light on each of the trips. I use Shell V-Power only for my gas with 91 octane. Could it still be breaking in? Yes. Could it be the oil? Maybe. Just wanted to share with you guys. I'm really happy with the mileage for this car.

Edit: This is with my cruise set at 70 mph the whole way on the same route from Milwaukee to Green Lake, Wisconsin and back. 30 miles of the trip I have the cruise set at 60, but noticed my mileage actually is better at 70 for some reason.

Weatherman, you're correct. As the car break in, the gas mileage improves (or at least that's the case with the Z). I recently took a trip and my results were the same. I was getting 26ish at around 76-79 MPH but as soon as I dropped it to 70 MPH (just to test it), MPG went up to 28+ .

I was getting at least 26+ MPG on the highway cruising from 75 - 80 MPH. As soon as I took my foot off a little (about 70 MPH), my MPG rose close to 28.6 MPG. Pretty impressive. Please note that gas mileage is LEAST of my worries since I DIDNOT buy this car for gas mileage. But I just posted in case someone wanted to know...
P.S. I run redline synthetic.

Roger that, AK. Maybe it's not the Ester Oil folks. It's just some good mileage. We're going green, while having a ton of fun.

that's just the way it is....after a good break in...mileage increases.

when the G was fresh.......really bad gas mileage but now it's good and normal

I managed to get 28 MPG on a fairly hilly highway with a light foot and on/off A/C before my mods at around 800 miles on the engine at around 70 MPH (110 Km/H). I'm impressed - better milage than my old daily driver ('99 Jeep Cherokee Laradeo 4.0l) Still running on the break in....

I agree. Some one once told me it wont be until 8,000 or 10,000 miles until your engine is truely broken in.

No idea if such a statement is true but i think it has some truth to it.
