For a while there you may have been driving around one of the fastest stock versions of the 370Z since the tiny breaks are less mass to spin at launch and the 7AT is so damn quick! I guess you'll never know!

Dealer def tried to pull a fast one on you. I would check your bill of sale, and if you still have it, your window sticker. Dealerships don't just have a full set of brakes for the Z just laying around. Heck, I needed touch-up paint and they had to order it.

Holy crap balls!!!! I would be suuuuper Pissed! I am mad just reading this.

Good thing they fixed it, but I would have to question why in the first place. Deffinately would let them know it is BS and I wouldn't be back to that dealer.

No offense, but you need to be really clueless to not know if you have the sport package or not. Wheels/Tires, Brakes, Spoilers, Side Skirts, LSD. Come on.

kenchan makes a good point though . . .

Check to make sure you got the other parts that your Z was supposed to come with.
  1. All 370Z's come with a pair of small diffusers that sit in front of the front tires that are dealer-installed. Lie down on the ground in front of your car. There should be a black plastic thing hanging down in front of each wheel. If they're not there and not in a plastic bag in your trunk, call the dealer.
  2. The Sport package models come with additional front chin deflector. Make sure this installed. As I do not have a Sport, I can't describe exactly what it is, so you may have to browse around here to find a pic (or, I'm sure someone will chime in).
  3. You do have the 19" RAYS wheels, right? Maybe I missed it earlier in the thread, but that and the presence of a spoiler are the easiest visual way to distinguish a Sport from a Non-Sport. At least on a brand-new Z. Wheels are easily swapped, of course.
  4. And on that note, you've got a spoiler, right? From the factory; no Spoiler, no Sport

Can you expand on that more?
There is supposed to be a bag with what in them inthe trunk?
And in a bag hanging in the front wheel wells?

Just need this explained a little more, I'm going to check when I get home. What exactly is supposed to be there?

Are these spares/backups?

Why would OP lie? Usually people don't claim they were scammed if they weren't. It isn't something to be proud of.

I don't think it is reluctance, it is indifference.

Not sure what everyone wants pictures of... everyone has seen 19" Rays with base brakes haven't they?

Sorry I just don't see what OP needs to prove to us.

I just wanted pics of the car to very quickly determine if it was truly a sport or non-sport. Would have saved quite a few posts in here if it started with a pic.

As for the others who dont believe him...not everyone is nearly as car-savvy as many of us.

Yeah but the guy said the dealer found his brakes... unless he has sports and they are going to swap them for base (that would be amazing) I don't think they would admit that anything was wrong unless OP was correct that he did not have sport brakes installed.

I get wanting to see pics PRIOR to the dealership admitting they fouled up but people accusing him of lying afterwards sort of confuses me.

Sure, taking pictures now is pointless, I agree. A picture from beforehand would have been telling.

When I was shopping around for my roadster, the dealership near my house ordered the car a wanted, roadster, touring, sports. I waited for the car to get there and when they finally called i showed up and they took me to the car (it had just came off the truck and the first thing I noticed was it didnt have the sports wheels.) After he showed me around and i got to look inside I also noticed that it was a base model. I told this to the sales person and he said that this is what I told him I wanted. We started talking to the GM and even the GM insited that I buy that car since they shipped it there just for me. He tried throwing in free oil changes and a better warranty and all I kept telling him was "even with that this is not the car I want and i dont want to buy a car and then later on be wishing that I insisted on getting the touring w/ sports. He just couldnt understand why I wouldn't buy that car, insted of continuing to look for the car I wanted. needless to say I never went back to that dealer again.

The base model diff is an open diffrential, so under heavy load like a launch from 0, you end up spinning only one wheel. The power is basically sent to the path of least resistance. If you've ever seen an off road truck with one wheel off the ground spinning, but the other one stationary, it's because the diff isn't "locked". A limited slip diff locks both rear wheels to which allows for torque to transfer to both wheels. The VLSD is a locking diff but uses silicone based oil instead of a true mechanical LSD that uses gears/clutches. The problem with the VLSD is that once the oil overheats, it is no longer effective and you essentially have an open diff until it cools down. It's fine for most uses, but the mechanical or true LSD is the better option. There is actually a slight advantage to the base model if you ever want to install an LSD like the one from Quaife since you don't need to buy additional stubs shafts.
