Default Some general questions...

hey guys i am new to this forum, i tried looking around some answers to my questions but some questions are hard to find answers to. I am in the market looking to purchase the "new" 2012 370z. i just have some questions, if you guys can help me out that would be amazing.

I went to see the car and noticed that the trunk had limited space... i am wondering if that would be an issue for anyone who takes roads trips? I don't usually have a lot of stuff to put in my trunk on a daily basis.

The car is also going to be my daily driver, and i live in Canada and our winters are sometimes bad. I am wondering if snow tires will actually make a difference or should i just keep my old car as a winter car?

lastly is it worth it to get the 6ML or the 7AT if it is going to be driven all year road?

Thanks guys for your help :-)

Welcome, Roger.

You can fit two golf bags back there. I just drove my Z with a passenger and luggage for 12 hrs a few weeks ago. Some people have comfort issues with the seats, others don't. Go sit in one at a dealership and see what you think.

Snow tires is a good question. Car comes with summer tires stock, and they suck in the cold.

I love 6mt, but 7at is said to be just as good.

They are a lot of people that use their Z as DD, in the Winter they get a set of snow tires with "chepo" rims. Must of them are happy driving in the snow...

Trunk space is limited (sport car) but much better than the 350Z, by yourself you can pack pretty well for a road trip.

I would keep the old car for the Winter, but that is me.

As far of 6MT or 7AT would be your choice.

GL with the purchase.

Would there be any issues with using the 370z as a DD if your commute to work is only 5 miles? Or would the Z be better suited as a weekend car?

Post on a winter set: My 370Z in the Snow - Blizzak LM-60

summary: it's fine as a light snow daily driver.

Also,
get the 6MT with Sport Package. You'll get a VLSD which sort of helps in the snow, too.

VLSD = Viscous Limited Slip Differential -- you get it with the sport package or Nismo.

hot days or hard driving, but 2012 and newer have an oil cooler, so shouldn't be an issue if you buy new

Definitely not a huge cargo car, but I always seem to make it work. I can fit my roadbike in the back which is a HUGE plus for me. Also, just took a camping/roadtrip last weekend and everything for 2 people fit fine.

No comment on the Winter driving as I live in SF which is winterless.

As for the 6MT... Are you a car enthusiast? Can you drive stick? If so there should be no question.

Welcome to the club!

your lucky you live in a winterless state! i envy that , no need to worry about winter tires or spending extra cash on items that can be used for other things such as better suspension or rims.

yah i am leaning more and more towards the 6 MT i am just hesitant on driving stick in the winter, i don't want to sound like a poo face but i am scared shitless of driving stick in the winter, i have no idea why lol. i test drove one today and i just wanted to take it home! it just made a weird noise when going from 1st to 2nd.. i just chalked it up to being a demo car and some people just didn't know how to drive it properly and broke something.. i could be wrong.

I would NOT drive it in the winter, period. The Z has real soft paint on the reg. Now put it in a winter mode setting with salt/rock covered roads and kiss your paint goodbye. Oh and not to mention how often you'll be washing your Z in the winter temps...
